Embiid is the MVP, followed by Giannis. Jokic can't be a 6th seed winning MVP

It's hilarious how this board thinks there's some agenda behind Jokic's MVP campaign, when nobody, and I mean literally nobody, even mentioned him heading into last season. Except he pushed himself into the frame because his play warranted it. Just like he was barely mentioned in the MVP discussion heading into this season - it was all about KD, Embiid, Luka etc. Again, Jokic's name wasn't really mentioned like that. Enter the season and over the first third it was a two-man race between KD and Steph, then Embiid and DeRozan pushed themselves into the discussion shortly thereafter, and again, Jokic was an afterthought. It was only his level of play that got him into that discussion as it did the year prior.

This board is the bastion of box score stats, and here Jokic is averaging 27 ppg, 14 rebounds and 8 assists, all without his #2 and #3 options for the entire season, carrying the team to one of the best records in the league, and yet somehow, there's an agenda behind giving him MVP.

Y'all dumbass nxggas spend all this time worrying about what you think is going on behind the curtain instead of just enjoying and appreciating what's happening on the stage.
:russell:This is Nash all over again

Why dont you make a thread and get a consensus

I don't need a consensus from here about a superior player being compared to one of the most overrated of the past twenty years.

Jokic is factually a superior player in every way possible. Not even a discussion.

@Dwight Howard

I remember you being one of the biggest advocates for Russ winning MVP back in 2017, so why the sudden change in energy this season for a player in a similar position? Don't try run now either.

:mjpls:
You had a problem with Westbrooks so I'm assuming you'd have a problem if jokic won. Therefore we should not repeat the same mistake right? :hubie:

I actually think jokic should be able to win.

Giannis clearly imo. Both ends of the court belonged to that dude this season.

If you don't give the award to Kobe in 2005-2006 then I don't think you can give it to Jokic when you have Giannis doing just as crazy shyt on both sides and having a top record.

Voter fatigue or not, Giannis is MVP.

By definition, Jokic is the Nuggets & league’s most VALUABLE player, so just give it to the cac. Giannis and Embiid are absolutely deserving of it as well, but Jokic edges them.

They are the 6th seed. Only 1 player in the last 40 years has won MVP being the 6th seed. And in hindsight, it was the wrong decision.

The MVP becomes a joke when the criteria keeps on changing. Exactly what Booker was referring to
Your problem is that there is no criteria.

Quick question: how many wins have each of the players you mentioned been involved in? Team record is also a misleading criteria. Look it up and think again. Also on scoring, have a look at the contribution of FTA

You’ve got me confused with somebody else.

I’ve never argued someone shouldn’t be MVP because of x-seeding, only to then argue years later someone else should be MVP who was the same or similar seed, mainly due to the fact I know MVP is awarded based entirely on a storyline. For the record: I thought Westbrook did deserve MVP that season, but I was against him winning it because he averaged a triple-double (that actually went against his case).
