And almost all of his good beats were made with the Bass Brothers. Once he dropped them his production became ass.
Stop. Drinking. Man.Most of the shyt he's produced was A-1. Especially that runnin joint. I think he should honestly step back from rap and produce full time.

Props to fate for letting me see this thread a couple pages deep for the first time so I don't have to waste time writing a diatribe about how poor of a producer Em was. All my points were already made.

Yeah Em said that he basically didn't touch many instruments or pads himself. He said he liked to hum melodies and tap out drum patterns and stuff and cats like Mike Elizondo and a couple of those other Shady/Aftermath in-house guys would play the keys or strings based on Em humming and singing the melody. If Em did some manual work it was some drum programming here and there.I'm an eminem fan but my suspicion is that a lot of his best beats were pretty much made by other dudes. If eminem does literally anything to a beat he gets a producer credit just because he's Eminem.
Also I remember this Kanye interview where he's giving em props as a producer but really he was shytting on him and playing him out. Pretty much let me know how respected em is by other people who really produce. I forget what he said but it was in the vein of Nas being like "yeah dude rhymed fire with liar and I wasand that was when I had to give up rapping. Dude was too nice."

He's overrated as a producer (and a rapper) in my opinion. Not saying he hasn't made some hot beats but his sound is very one dimensional, there's not a whole lot of variance in his beat catalogue. And to my ears a lot of his beats were trash. Soulless compositions of boringness.Most of the shyt he's produced was A-1. Especially that runnin joint.
