How do you go from

to

In a matter of 1 post?

1996 Romania, only 6 years after the fall of communism was mourning Pac. I wouldn't expect you to know what I'm talking about but let's just say that the meee fact that we knew back then who he was it speaks HEAVY about Pac's power.

It's the 2nd post of yours that I can take it as trolling, and if that's not trolling you are seriously lackin' and masking as a motherf.

If you are looking for attention you're getting the bad one for sure.

All in a matter of one post because I wanted more info on Pac and Bigs influence while living. Taking popularity, sales etc. I said Fugees cause they were actually topping the charts.

I don't know of Romanian communism, but I know of Yugoslavian communism in the 60s. My bad if you think I'm trolling. I'm not. I'm passionate about hip hop and intellectual stuff.

Very well said and thanks for your insight.
I just felt that Pac and Big didn't do those numbers while alive.

They did. :yeshrug:

Like I said BIG's debut went 4x plat. Pac was going multi-plat before he died. And his last album cleared 5x plat before he died (and later did 9-10x, total after he died).

Because selling records and popularity have everything to do with finances.
Money made, put back into marketing.
Attractive, lavish lifestyles etc

Not really. There's not necessarily any overlap between how much you're selling, your popularity....and how much money you actually have.

And that's across the board. There's a ton of famous actors from 20+ years ago that didn't have their finances in order. Same goes for musicians, dating back to Motown. TLC went 12x plat....and then filed bankruptcy. What happened with BIG and Pac is not uncommon, at all.

Well, I'm saying in the same time frame as BIG and Pac. Maybe I misunderstood but dude made it seem like getting jerked in show business didn't happen in the 90's. Which is :mjlol:

yea, the fugees had the biggest year in '96 and they were definitely the most international.
theyre being slightly disregarded in here because they were more crossover and their biggest hit was an r&b record, which is understandable but people on here don't keep that same energy when it comes to their personal favorite crossover rappers. same people in here downplaying the fugees will turn around and say outkast are goats or some chit.

fugees, bone thug, wutang. big, pac, and also snoop/dre didn't fall off til the end of the year. plus Coolio & rejuvenated LL cool j were up there as well as marquee acts.

i'd say that pac & big were the two most polarizing figures at the time, but they weren't the dominant untouchable forces that they were made out to be after they died. a lot of people weren't fans of either of them.

I was 20 in 1996.

BIG went 4x plat with "Ready To Die".

As far as "Gangsta's Paradise"....it was the lead single to a hit movie.

As far as the radio, nobody gave a fukk about what was on the radio back then man. I was in the hood for 20+ years, what the radio was playing was a complete non-factor to us. Wu-Tang was going 4x plat with no radio singles, for example. Outkast, before they crossed over, were going 2x plat too. With no mainstream radio singles.

"ready to die" was only 2x plat when biggie died.

Coolio had huge hits before & after "gangstas paradise". he was the top pop rapper.

outkast & wutang were always mainstream. they weren't UGK or BCC.
outkast was mainstream from day one. their entire entrance into the game was laface urban crossover.
wutang always had a big push from MTV before they even started selling records. the MTV hype for wutang forever was especially intense to the point where they didn't need any radio hits for that album.

That's not always true breh.

With the run lil Wayne had, you'd think he had to have atleast 100 mil in the bank but dude had a few mil and had to take birdman to court to recoup SOME of what he was owed. Wayne had periods where he put in mad work and only received a car for his efforts. Imagine how weird it would be seeing Wayne so broke if he died at the peak of his career before getting his money straight.

There were alot of rumors about pac wanting out of death row because he wasn't getting paid, which fueled theories about suge having him killed. Dr Dre left damn near broke.
