Its getting annoying hearing the "It was a concept album" as if that somehow makes it any better. Em truly is a rap version of South Park in terms of how when you are younger and more impressionable, it all seems the height of genius and great work. But as you grow, it diminishes. The thing with Eminem is that he never has changed from the times. I remember how awkward it was hearing dated "Christopher Reeves" " Jessica Simpson",etc lines even in 2009...

He just needs to retire. I am beginning to wonder if Paul Rosenburg is really unintentionally blocking any creative material that has a chance of being inside his head. It always seems everything is through Paul's mouth and you sometimes forget who the "artist" is , and wonder if it is Paul who is making this nonsense continue. He is like a puppet with no thinking outside the box at all or being able to do anything unconventional. Wait for someone in here to talk about his creativity in lyrics; Instead of discussing why he is one of the few mainstream artists from the past to not have actually showed ARTFORM instead of being "super technical" .

Robotic like.

Who knows maybe another reason could be due to him not having headline making stories in his life like he had in his prime.

He is gonna end up being the hip hop version of Elton John in terms of dragging out bad content and material instead of bowing out gracefully.

Its just sad.

Em has gone outside the box with Mosh, Stan, etc. But there's just an it factor missing. He's all flow now or double-time flow for no reason. Sometimes I wonder if it's me and that I just reach a point in my life where I no longer want to hear something from a certain artist and that I'm over thinking it. The same way I think some cats do that on here with Jay, I probably do that same thing with Nas and Em. Like, if he released relapse as his debut, would I still be saying this shyt....I dunno.

As someone who enjoyed relapse and didn't really like recovery, i really just want him to go a bit more bare bones for this album, of course it's gonna need a "single" but beyond that i would really love for him to work WITH HIS OWN fukkING DJ FOR A GOTDAMN CHANGE.

:snoop:

more ALC, more havoc...and maybe another seduction type track (shoulda been a single) that can double as something quotable and halfway dancable. Some legendary features, think nas/LL, redman, his contemporaries and influences.

:yeshrug:

Honestly those are just wishes, i really just want to hear what he has to say, where he's at and what he's trying to prove/experiment with next, the thing i love about em is that while he's not the most consistent heavy weight, his personality, his approach and his aim change from album to album, people thinking this will sound like recovery will probably be surprised, he may rehash subject matter but NONE of his albums really sound the same.

With Em admitting to Nasir about how he thinks he has touched the subject of his daughter too much(whether that was a cop out or not) , I guess it shows he does have some sense of control over what he is putting out.

I wonder what he will give us on this next solo if he is done with the rehashing of the personal life .

What would you personally want from him in his music specifically?

Why Nas though?

I don't know what I want to hear from Em, I just know that I don't like his sound right now. Some of it is actually genuinely funny (white trash party), but a lot of just seems contrived or corny. It's like he's trying to be ill instead of it just being effortless. That's why it's technically sound, but lacks any sort of replay value.

As far as Nas goes, I find most his lyrics lately to look better on paper than when I actually hear him rap them. Sometimes the production will be perfect like on a song like Stay and he'll rip it, but too often I feel like he's using a monotone flow that actually takes the energy out of the track. Like, the lyrics look good on paper, but the execution bores me. Perfect example is "Usual Suspects" with Rick Ross, where Ross has all that mic presence and it seems like the entire vibe of the track loses energy when Nas starts rapping. I'd rather the "Black Republicans" Nas than that guy. Same thing on Still Dreaming with Kanye West, etc. As a matter of fact, I feel that way more often than not these days.

Part of that is just his beat selection, but regardless I think I just don't have the same patience anymore. When I was sitting around in 7th grade and I hear "What Goes Around" I'm like :ohhh:, when I'm 19 and I'm college and I've taken African history courses, religion and other sorts of courses and I hear Untitled, he's no longer saying or referencing anything I don't know so there's no brain-teaser or curiosity factor to lure me in. It then is just a matter of execution for me, and he didn't execute well enough to keep my attention. I could care less about the subject matter now if I don't think it's executed well. It's no surprise that tracks like "Y'all My nikkas" with a booming beat and Nas rapping aggressive were popular. He wasn't on his chill flow. I don't know how else to say it but he just has lacked charisma on the mic to me too often over the past 6 years. He and Em were my two favorite rappers, but now I'm buying their albums out of respect, not out of anticipation.

I remember when LIG dropped, and people were posting lyrics, I didn't even half of them the first time because he didn't have my attention. Music is still a form of entertainment, and I think sometimes he doesn't do that. Still one of my 3 favorite rappers of all time.

Whether or not your a long time fan, a person who use to be a fan back in the day, or one of those people that bring up him being overrated and white in every thread like a broken record and never staying on point to the discussion.......

As STRICTLY as a fan of hip hop, what do you think would be the best thing Eminem should do in order to regain credibility that he may have lost in the mind of some people .

For me I would like this:

Start working with and getting production from the Bass Brothers much more frequently.........But this would be hard because of the current lawsuit they are going through with Aftermath :sadcam:

Have less hooks by singers and start doing his own hooks without being overly corny with it

Features:

Nas
Pacewon
Diabolic

Topics To Talk About:

Chaos Kid's Death

A Song About the Whole Canibus Notepad situation......except this time actually make a serious track about Canibus calling him out about how bad that makes emcees look

Can't think of anything else.....

So do you guys have any thoughts?

Once again no sarcastic posts..............

Hopefully he's moved on from yelling over emo beats and drops something people over the age of 18 can listen to without making this face :scusthov:

I'm sitting here like :ohhh: at people in here defending Relapse in any capacity. Eminem was once my favorite rapper circa 01-02, and anyone pretending that he's released an album worth listening to for more than 3 or 4 songs max since 2002 must be a bigger fan than I thought possible. Em these days does either a bunch of yelling, forces those corny young money type punchlines, or does a bunch of technically sound rapping that has lost its shock value or is just saying nothing at all.

Nothing to defend, it's people that liked the album, save for a few tracks (we made you/old times sake).

If he brought back the infinite flow, and stopped using all these alt-rock-ish beats I'd be happy.

I don't even mind him switching back to personal subject matter, but this 70+ mins of double-time yelling needs to stop.
