Its a fukked up situation, I agree...and it'd be nice if more of them spoke out. This
As a black man, we've seen too many Charles Barkley a and Stephen a a moths to really feel like black on tv just need to say "something"
But its unrealistic cause in all honesty to expect it.
Lebron is a dude without a father who happens to be good at ONE thing and made a lot of money off of it. Dude didn't even really finish high school like that cause we know he's not an academic about much of anything. Not formally at least...and he's no Kobe and it shouldn't surprise anyone in that regard.
However, the reason a lot of black athletes spoke up in the past was cause shyt was that much more dire. For better or for worse, the stakes aren't that high for even multimillionaire black athletes on the street as it was 40 years ago, so things go unaddressed.
The average mid-20 year old, regardless of money, isn't smart enough to truly be someone who is taken seriously in boardrooms or in court rooms. To think a few million changes that is a stretch.
This just comes back to a chronic worship of athletes instead of being itself a reflection of the stakes of being a mature citizen.
