I have over 500 games on steam. I buy a lot of shyt and that certainly isn't based solely on reviews. I buy games I think I'll like, despite the reviews. If numbers go away, I'll just find a new strategy.

I like to make informed decisions. If we go by the coli, you should just buy games cuz of advertising or gut feelings. That's not the way I work.

Havent you aqcuired a taste thru the years? :dahell: Thats what I primarily buy my games off along experience.. I know what to expect of certain games/devs and if Im mildly interested Ill cop when the price drops, watch it on YT or play a demo if available.

Demos are a thing of the past, and not all games have betas and sometimes a lot of shyt changes from the beta. I have eclectic tastes. I don't limit myself to one particular genre or anything. I'm the same way with music. I'll listen to any genre (minus country...[fukk that shyt]). I want to know what's going on with all genres. Metacritic allows me to easily do that.

Yeah, I don't buy all games that get an 85+ (Persona 4 being a good example. I'm on the fence cuz of the combat). I use my 85+ strategy to look into games deeper. I have many strategies when buying games. 85+ is one that hasn't done me wrong. I also know what kind of games I like and will buy a game in the low 80s or 70s if I know it's my shyt (like Captain Toad). I like to have a lot of tools in my toolbox. I don't want my metacritic tool taken away. But if it is, I'll live.
If you have that much games, you should kind of get a feel for what you like. Me, I know I won't enjoy games like Shadow of Mordor or w/e so even though I'll see big hype behind such titles like The Witcher 3 or Dragon Age, they're not my type of games so I'll skip. That's where Steam comes in handy, I end up buying games on there that I wouldn't for console because of the low prices from time to time. I bought SOM for $25(well $12 since I split it with my cuzzin.)

I typically like everything (except turn-based combat and action games right now). I'll play a puzzle game one day, an rpg another, an action/adventure another day, etc. I don't limit myself.

How am I a freak? Metacritic is a very popular site. I'm not the only one that uses it

Or do you mean my mental state? Well, if so, that might be true....:russ:

No, I use reviews as a tool. Like I said, I have over 500 games on steam (and that's just on pc alone). I don't just buy games because they have high metacritic scores.

Yeah existentially, I'm a freak. I'm nihilist, extreme relativist, and generally have a negative opinion of life. That's who I am. I got over it.

I'm also a researcher and run numbers for a living. I like numbers a lot. Aggregates and meta-analyses are a big part of my life. I like that they're also in gaming.

That's why its going to be so interesting to see scores about The Order and truth be told, we post online about video games. I read and trust many of the reviews about games here. i bought Freedom Wars out of the clear blue based on people talking about on gaf. It's piff. If it wasn't, eh, $15 bucks I'm out of.

Not for these obscure indies. Plus, what I gotta do, read 150 reviews for games now (or even worse, just trust one review site)? I like to read positive, medium, and negative reviews of games. metacritic allows me to easily do that. Without numbers, I'm stuck reading 80 reviews or some bullshyt. I'm not making reading reviews my new hobby, and I'm not letting advertising influence my decision to buy a game either.

Metacritic is a great tool. I still have no idea why people hate it so much. It all started with Destiny. That shyt got reviews in the 70s and everybody turned on metacritic. Users don't even like that game either. I don't know what the big deal is.

If you don't like reviews, don't read em, and buy games based on hype. If that's your prerogative, then so be it. I for one love metacritic and use it as a tool to buy games. If it goes away, I'll just go buy steam reviews or user reviews (but it's much harder for me to trust those people).

I literally do not have time to read 100 reviews for a game. I don't think anybody does. You read glowing reviews, mediocre reviews, and bad reviews. That gives you a good idea of what that game is about. The number helps point you to a game you might have missed cuz it doesn't have a million dollar marketing budget. shyt is such a helpful tool. Why do people hate it so much? :mindblown:

At times, just for these obscure indies. Just depends on the game and the site in question.

I've never hidden myself on this site. If you frequent the locker room you'd know all about my worldview and mindset. I'm comfortable with myself. I got nothing to hide. I'm an extremely negative person. Who cares? :yeshrug:

My problem is, I can't just trust one site. One opinion means nothing to me. I need more than that. I like aggregates. Metacritic gives me that :manny:

TYRONE GA!
2 times in 10 years of reviewers getting paid off does not make a trend. This buy reviews conspiracy theory has got to stop.

you are kidding yourself if you think it's 2 times in 10 years. Heavy advertising on game sites is pretty much payola bruh.
