Numbers are not a better breakdown as a game that I consider a 10/10 might mean a 5/10 for you.

How hard is it for you to grasp this? You build NASA like desktops, mess with numbers all day and yet can't see how wrong you are in this argument?

There will be better breakdowns if numbers are eliminated because it will force reviewers to really make their point instead of hiding behind a number.
since I work with numbers all day, you should clearly see why I like numbers. data points from 80 different sources is superior to data points from 3. This is high school stats

Plus, with meta-analyses the extremely high scores cancel out the extremely low scores and you get a good estimate of the general consensus of a game.

The more numbers the better.

And it's not like these reviewers are just giving out numbers. They actually write reviews too. Don't act like all they do is put a 7.2 on something. If you want more detail you can read the review. I say read good reviews, mediocre reviews and poor reviews. That gives you a good impression of a game.

Write a review and then rate it a 7.2

Even thinking about it is dumb as fukk.

Because the system is broken.

Why do bethesda and rock star games never get their scores affected by bugs and software issues while other studios specifically have their scores brought down for bugs.

It happens constantly.

Its an arbritrary number that means NOTHING. Reviewers literally pull a number out of their ass.
I don't think that's true. Some bugs can be overlooked in games if the rest of the shyt is good. Bethesda makes buggy games, but the rest is so good that their games are worth the 9s it gets.

Reviewers don't pull numbers out of their asses. They have whole reviews for you to read to justify their scores. It's not just one number they put on a game. There is reason behind it

I literally have no idea where you are coming from. Why is it dumb as fukk? If there is a system in place for rating games, how is that dumb?

They're not just pulling shyt out of their asses. If you actually read the reviews you can see why they give certain games certain scores.

Its not a natural way of reviewing things my man, that's what I am getting back at you with this.

Oh, yeah...I went to watch "This Movie Right Here" and I will tell people that I give it a 8.4 out of 10...:wtf:

This arbitrary number literally costs people's jobs and causes rage all over for fukking NOTHING. Either you like the game or you don't, it really IS that simple.

I rate things on a number scale all the time. I recently gave the first two episodes of Better Call Saul a 7/10 based on my experience with television shows (I'm really into tv). I know how to compare across shows and give a good number.

Comparisons are at the heart of review scores. Why can't you see this?

When you review games day in and day out, you know how to compare. Numbers quantify that comparison.

Nah, chill. I am going to have to call you out on this.

WHO, WHO in the fukk talks to their friends and say...yeah I give this tv episode, game, or movie a number instead of just saying that either they liked it or not? I've NEVER EVER talked to anyone about things like this in real life. It's actually been broken down in some of my communications classes in how its just something people online justify their purchases, not really the way they communicate in person.

Hand to god, I rate things on number scales. Breh, I work with numbers for a living. Why would I not do this?

Quantitative scores > Qualitative ratings.

From the better call saul thread

I'm really into television. I know good shows. The show doesn't require your attention like others. Nothing really happened. It's all been setup so far (which to be fair, is to be expected). shyt's a 7/10 so far. We'll see what happens in the future episodes. I wish this was 5 episodes deep already so I could just watch em back to back. But we gotta wait.

Oh you're the expert on human behavior now?

Let's see, people put review scores on tv, movies, music, games, books, etc. They've been doing it for decades!
