Yea but going to school with Adult responsibilities and constantly being reminded that everything is an uphill battle for us African Americans is stressful.....it makes me just wanna settle

STEM is a lot more flexible. Especially with advanced degrees.

A lot of people with non-STEM degrees are struggling.

cacs really got blacks tellin other blacks to work at a job with shytty benefits just for a lousy paycheck that gets taxed 30%. I cut my dreads 3 yrs I had for about 2 yrs ago because everyone in college kept telling me I wasn't gonna get a job with long hair and it was "unprofessional". Now I plan on gettin my hair twisted in a couple months.

fukk whatever cacs think. No matter ya major if you black you already behind even with a degree. Gotta find ways to make your own money and bounce from these nikkas.

I'm thinking of starting my own shyt and saying fukk corporate lmao.

My dad is in his 50s, did 20+ yrs in the military and has had a career in doing networking. But, since the recession shyt has been up and down for him. Doing contract work then outta nowhere get let go. Then having to be on unemployment nshyt. :scust:

the job I just started has me uncomfortable as hell. A career wearing slacks and shirts aint for me. Im thinking about starting a business that deals with clothing.

I don't even know what makes someone "professional" anymore. Jobs are becoming less and less formal. Cac run the world pretty much so a cac with a beard and tattoos everywhere is considered "art" and "unique"

My advice:
-Study something that leads to a license. Having a license weeds out a bunch of people and makes finding a job easier.
-Take any job (even if it's bullshyt) and work/network/kiss ass your way up the ladder.
-Avoid for-profit colleges
-If you go to grad school, go to the best one you can get into
-Join the military if you're desperate (you can go in as an officer with a degree)

There are young black people getting jobs brehs, don't give up hope.

I had an idea...

Check "white" on online job apps.

When they call to schedule an interview, ask for email confirmation of the interview (many do this automatically).

Cop one of those hidden camera pens. Clip it to your suit/shirt coat pocket. Record the entire interview.

When they rush the interview to get your black ass outta there, send all video/email confirmation to attorney.

We gotta fight these greedy racist b*stards guerilla style. Hit em where it hurts. They'll likely settle out of court to avoid the PR hit. ESPECIALLY if they have government contracts.

Should also stress the importance of Internships/Co-OPS while your in college. I keep tellin my youngns to get in on those early and network like a mofo. I interned with BNY Mellon during my junior summer of college in their Atlanta office, and was able to get a full time job with them after I graduated and moved to New York. My regular ass Degree from my Regular ass college was no match for the people I was working with on Wall Street, I know for a fact I wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for that internship.

Don't get lost in the books for 4 years that you forget to get some real world experience in the meantime.

This...

If you're not getting a co-op or internship, you're fukking yourself. However...here is the thing. Its probably hard as hell for black folks to get co-op and internships compared to their white and asian counterparts.

At the beginning of mean streets
Let me tell you how I got my new job...my brother in law..

He got hires in a prominent position last year, a posting in his team was up, he told me to apply. Did I have the qualifications? Nope.

But he got me in, this is what cacs do look after their own.

And this is what we should do brehs and brehettes

Same here. I strongly believe in putting each other on.
