Yes because future Buffalo's, Dylan Roof, police brutality, hate crimes against black people will magically disappear because we have a less racist cracker is in office. :unimpressed:

Do I want republicans to have complete control? Absolutely not but I'm under no illusion that having democrats in control is going make things 100% better for black people in this country.

You think progressive democrats in office would do nothing?

:what:

American Democracy as a felt experience ended or never began for countless people. The Supreme is a conservative institution. Its power needs to be curbed.

Joe Biden doesn't care about this ruling enough (or at all) to expand the court, and he wouldn't even if he did care because he knows Republicans would out 'court-pack' the Democrats if they got the chance,

Above the fray.
Since when weren't we disenfranchised...:jbhmm:
Civil Rights Acts dismantled the legal disenfranchisement that people from your grandparents' + generation faced, depending on how old you are and what part of the country your people are from.

Between that period and now, there have been attempts to restrict, block the Black vote but on paper there was Federal protection against it. And federal enforcement when voters challenged those measures.

This Judicial Branch decision could amount to legal disenfranchisement to millions of voters.

So what do you suggest we do if the Supreme Court overturns Moore v Harper OP.

Not sure. How do most countries overcome far right regimes? I can envision many blue states not recognizing the legitimacy of the federal government and trying secede. There would be absolute chaos that could potentially ignite civil conflict. Republicans are fooling themselves if they think the other half of the America will be cool with having no voice and being under their theocratic rule.

That's why its prudent that Supreme Court is packed. And yes, that means voting in the midterm to elect more Democratic senators and putting pressure on Biden. People need to get politically engaged or else we wont have a country.

Not entirely true. If we're at present, so disenfrancised why are Republicans trying so hard to supress our votes? Doesn't that imply that our votes have somewhat of an impact on the outcome of electoral politics?

Also it took black voters to make Trump a one term president and it took the absence of black votes to get Trump elected so he could then pack the court with right wing zealots. Bottomline is that we do have the power to influence the political direction of this country. And if SCOTUS rules in favor of the Independent State Legislature Doctrine theory that ability will be completely eroded.

I know you're being sarcastic but sometimes I feel like the sowing of voter apathy was all apart of the right wing plan that led us to this point in the first place. The country has been held hostage by Republican obstructionists for quite sometime, making any legislation to improve people's lives impossible. People are confused and angry with those in power but cannot quite connect the dots. And yes, Democratic leadership has its share of blame in all of this too.

But in any other point in time in history the potentiality of this ruling would be met with severe civil disobedience and outrage. It seems the arrival of the coming far right theocracy will be greeted with slumbering and confused Americans more concerned with the latest Iphone and Netflix series. Its incredible when you really thinking about it. But I can imagine this is how many countries become dictatorships. A large enough size of the population just becomes completely detached making it far easier for those with bad intentions to grab the reigns of power.

If nothing else Coli militants will finally get what they asked for. And I guess we'll finally see how receptive the coming far right theocracy is to Tariq's demand for $20 trillion in reparations since both sides are technically the same.

The right wing has been playing the long game all along to put in place minority rule since their numbers are falling.

They know the blue states won’t rock with this. They WANT a reaction so that they have a reason to jail people lol

Hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist but it’s becoming clear that these people are going full steam ahead. They are pushing this hard for a reason.

Unfortunately I think you're right. The only adjustment I'd make to your point is that they don't just want to jail people. They want to kill people.

The white nationalist elements of the radical right wing want therr to be civil conflict so they can be deputized to murder people (particularly black people).

The theocratic elements of the radical right want civil conflict because they believe it be apart of some doomsday scenario in which Jesus will come back.

And finally the billionaire class supports both of these factions because they want an erosion of the administrative state so they can conduct their business unregulated and live out their libertarian fanstasies.

People talk about Bill Gates and George Soros to indicate some global left wing conspiracy but right wing conspiracies are being played out right before our eyes with little pushback.
