The hoods themselves are getting gentrified and the young black kids today rather have swag than to be a hood nikkaa. On top of the fact that black kids see images of Obama, the internet, and interactions with all kinds of people unheard of 20 years ago.

Where Hip Hop fukked up is when we got rid of theblack power artists
and replaced it by super thugs.
YOUR RIGHT

HIP HOP WAS TAKEN OVER YEARS AGO THE INDUSTRY PICKED IT UP OUT FROM THE GHETTOS AND HOODS AND THEN DROPPED IT IN THE SUBURBS

EVERYONE WEARING FUNNY CLOTHES AND GETTING FEMININE AND BEING SOFT AND NICE

NOW WE GOT MYLIE CYRUS AND JUSTIN BIEBER SLOWLY WORKING THEIR WAY IN

JUST IMAGINE A FEW YEARS FROM NOW

They didn't get replaced, they flopped and they don't sell. Mos Def flopped. Talib Kweli flopped. The Roots flopped.

You can only blame the fans. Labels are giving the people what they want, the fans are riding hard for Rick Ross and ignorant trap music.

No, I was talking about before Mos Def and them. I was talking about the NWA days where people went overboard with the gangsta shyt and duped people into thinking that black power was trash and boring. That started the fukkery that we see today. It was a very gradual process

Nah...the diversity was very good up until 2007 when the south took over.

I was thinking about Miley, and how all these rappers are making songs with her and shyt..... its pretty damn obvious the direction the industry is trying to push hip hop.. into hip pop.

hell, that Lordes song was playin on "urban" rap radio.. wtf is that shyt?!

WHY ISN'T NO ONE TALKIN ABOUT THIS?!

With the constant hate New York is getting, i feel like it kinda was.. planned.. at least in the 90's when you had groups like Onyx workin with Biohazard, they were workin with other musicians who had their own "sub culture" and we're on the same level as being the "anti". what ethics, culture, and elements does pop have? NONE.

Maybe im just buggin out, i drank a ton of coffee and my mind is racing, but I was thinking..

You have Kendrick.. who drops his Control verse, then all eyes are on the "downfall" of New York.. meanwhile, we got this bytch swoopin in in the midst of things workin with rappers, rappers co signing this shyt and agreeing to do songs with her and no one is saying nothing? i don't get it...

I give it 2 years tops before "hip hop" ends up like rock and roll..hip hop is movin far and far away from its core ethics and elements as the months go by

could this be why the souths sound is so embraced right now?! cause its easier to integrate "pop" into that kinda club music?

EXACTLY, and this is what I've been saying thru out all these Trinidad James sh*tted on NY threads. But I blame these new negros for extending that clown's 15 minutes, all because he had one little point. Ok, he has a point, I respect that, but even a clock that's broken is right twice out of the day. So what. What's funny is, when they want Trinidad James to go away again, he isn't. All because they gassed his head up over one point he made.

I'll even defend Kendrick in this instance (and I can't stand his over blown hype). He wasn't even disrespecting NY with that King of NY sh*t. He simply did a "rewind that" verse and had everybody trying to out rap that. Hence why Maino said he rapped himself into that position lyrically. He wasn't going around doing press conferences on what's wrong with somebody else's city. But what did these new dummies do. Turned that into "Kendrick is disrespecting, New York needs to respond."

Anyway, you're right. Instead of arguing over regions that none of us own and the industry doesn't care about, they need to be worried about why Hip Hop and it's black artist are being phased out, no where to seen or heard at these award shows, or given proper credit. But yet the culture is being used and exploited to promote, like you said, the likes of Miley Cyrus, Iggey Izealia ect......but we are no where to see seen or heard. That is what's truly wrong, but these new fools are too busy being Court Juster's and Jokers. Too busy being followers and d*clryders to see the real issues. And it's not NY's co called fall off. But I digress, cause these dumb a$$s ain't gonna hear you or me no way.

Out here in my damn drawls
Those are the guys who are actually buying records. All the real hip-hop always flops.

In 10 years, the fans will look very different.

:ehh: Seeing a majority of these album sales as of late, it seems that alot of these rappers can't survive on just casual pop fans and features. The onus is on artist to find to a way to stay true to themselves while making an effort to make the album sales that copies fiend over. In an ideal world tho, the motivation to make money, which is not a bad thing, wouldn't override the passion that they have for their work and every single song they make :yeshrug:. Money and popularity can't be the sole motivation an artist ( a true artist).

But even still, today, rappers put out lackluster mixtapes for free and they're not even worth downloading most of the time, so they can't expect us to cop an album when they aren't bringing. If money is the only case, there will never be another It's Dark and Hell is hot or Illmatic because casual fans don't demand it, and right now, their voice is louder than the segment of hip-hop and rap fans that want passion and quality :smh:

It's these rappers that are makin strip club songs...they are handing over their position as rappers and hip hop to the likes of Miley Cyrus and other pop artists and shyt all for a feature to make a hit song without recognizing what the fukk they are doing

fukk any rapper, hip hop radio and hip hop outlet playing her music and co-signing her in. there's a difference between collabin with an artist outside the genre because you really respect them on an artistic and musical level then they go their separate ways, and that's that. but havin all sorts of rappers completely inviting them in and flockin to her to look for hits cause rap albums arent sellin like they used it is and you gotta give the label "hits" is :snoop: no ethics what so ever

before i was makin excuses for them, but with a bit of thinking.. my visions clearer now.

If something doesnt happen like a new BLACK (Lil Wayne, Kanye,50 cent) esque level superstar popping up in the next couple of months.

I guarantee you the industry in a few years is gonna be nothing but a bunch of Mac Millers, Mackelmore, Miley Cyrus n Iggy Azelias running around.

While the hurrr duuurrr reaaaaaal hip hop heads will have a bone thrown at em every now and again. (Kendrick Lamar,JoeyBadass etc)

DIversity went out the window back in the early, despite the likes of DMX, Jigga, lauryn, NORE, LOX, and them were popping off. When the radio formula came to existence and the likes of the one-sided view of black folks were in the media, is when I hated that shyt.
