I dunno Ed, If Bron finds a way to win this one..... :patrice:

You kinda have to place him above Shaq. Shaq never won anything without a prime wing (Kobe and Wade). And he did have a weakness, it just wasn't that bad of a crutch (FT shooting).

I'm still taking Shaq to start a team barely. Only below Cap, Wilt, to me regarding centers.
he had a cedric ceballos and nick van exel team competitive [how they do after he left?]
he drug dennis scott and nick anderson to the nba finals [how they do after he left?]
he led the lakers to 4 straight finals winning three [how the lakers do after shaq left?]

he spent basically his entire career with one though. Let's not act like 2000 was the result of anyone but him, and 2001 was most definitely him too. Both of those finals he scored around 15-20 MORE points per game while shooting 15-20% higher from the field, in 2001 with the defensive player of the year checking him. We really don't give him the credit we need to.

No one is saying Shaq is trash or doesn't deserve the accolades. I'd still take a dominant big man every single time over a wing, with a playmaker PG second when drafting. Just saying that Shaq didn't win a title without a HOF wing. That's a fact. If Bron does it.....I think it's a legit argument.

Ced and Nick weren't HOF players and they didn't make the Finals with them.

Those Orlando teams had talent, let's not BS ourselves. Better talent than Bron has now.

4 Finals in 5 seasons with Kobe who did LOTS OF WORK esp in those San Antonio series.

edit: had to fix the Finals thing :pachaha:

The only arguments are:

Free throws
The disadvantage of needing guards to get you the ball as a big man

Shaq > LeBron

You think Shaq couldn't have torn through this Eastern Conference?

I don't disagree, that's why I said if Bron wins it somehow. If he does it with no love and a hobbled Kyrie...it's debateable.

4 times in 5 years. They missed in 2003. Still unreal though. Yeah looking back I think Shaq left a title or two in Orlando. That was a really good team.

No doubt.

As my man @NV-ME said ...Kobe has more titles without Shaq than Vice Versa. FACTS.

nikkaz acting like Kobe was Randy Brown and shyt during the early 00s run need to stop. Tell em @CantStop

I just think the argument is debateable if Bron and the Cavs win this shyt. That's all.

Interesting debate. :ehh:

Shaq's potential >>>>>>>> than anybody other than Wilt.

We can't just go by his potential though, we have to look at what actually happened and what role he played in that.

Shaq was 30 and 15 and clogged the paint on D and a nice passer too. There was really nothing you could do with him except foul or hope Kobe doesn't want to pass the ball to him. Yet he got swept a gang of times and only won 4 rings in 19 years despite being as unstoppable as he was and always having top talent around him. Liability in the 4th due to FTs.

Bron is a triple double waiting to happen, capable of near Shaq efficiency while running the offense. Guards multiple positions. Carried teams that either lacked talent or had talent that underperformed. Clutch despite what the narrative says. bytched out in 2011 Finals and sometimes has Hamlet syndrome.

Sure it's debatable. LeBron is 30 years old, this is going to be his 6th Finals and he's already won 2.
When Shaq was 30, he finished off a 3peat, so he's ahead right now. If the Cavs win the title Bron pulls even at 3 rings.

Shaq would have reached more Finals if it wasn't for Michael Jordan when he was in Orlando and Tim Duncan when he was in L.A. LeBron has not had to face anyone on that level playing in the East. And the one guy who might have rivaled that level, Wade, LeBron went and joined his team.

Conveniently leave out the fact that the "he had a cedric ceballos & nick van exel team competitive" that that team had Eddie Jones, Kobe Bryant, Robert Horry, Derek Fisher, and Elden Campbell....plus Ceballos only played 8 games with Shaq's Lakers:dead:

he drug dennis scott and nick anderson to the nba finals [how they do after he left?]

:dahell:

Soooooo, we leaving out he had Penny Hardaway and Horace Grant as well?:usure:

he led the lakers to 4 straight finals winning three [how the lakers do after shaq left?]

:comeon:

Yeah, because it's not like he didnt have Kobe Bryant on that team as well:rudy:

Lebron has been stopped before. :stopitslime:

Kawhi shut his ass all the way down. :camby:

Boris Diaw shut his ass all the way down. :camby:

Point me in the direction of a person who could guard prime shaq. :damn:

nikka used to back centers down like babies in the post. :camby:

Only person that stops Lebron is himself. :laff: at a nikka that won Finals MVP and put up 28 ppg on 60% shooting getting shut down. No need to stop him if he ain't on the floor in the 4th or if you team is still managing to sweep his. Spurs had had prime Shaq shooting 45% and avg. 21 in 02 btw.
