That has nothing to do with what we're talking about.

You said pop = popular. It doesn't. The sentence you quoted even made it a point to differentiate between the two.

"Hotline Bling" and "Alright" both got radio spins. Both were popular. Only one is a pop song.

This isn't hard to understand, and it ain't some shyt that started with Drake. If you can't tell the difference artistically between "Views" and "TPAB", you need to get your ears checked. And for the record I don't really like either album.

I dont even know what Alright is so I doubt it was as popular as Hotline Bling lol all im saying is even fukkin Trap Queen is a pop song rather u wanna admit it or not. pretty much any good popular song with a melody can be considered pop. and when i say major radio spins im not talking about on your normal rap/hip hop r&b stations im talking about when it transcends to them top 40 radio stations

:what:

Drake fans, ya'll.

Songs ain't gotta be equally popular, and the reason they aren't is because one is a pop record, and one is just popular.

"Get Rich Or Die Trying" sold 8 mill or some stupid shyt. Got radio spins. Had hit singles. It wasn't pop. It was credited with shifting the mainstream rap game into more street related content.

It was a street record that became popular. If a Gucci Mane song blows up and gets radio spins he ain't gonna get compared to Beyonce. His shyt just became popular. It's not pop.

Again, refer to the actual definition of the word. I linked the Wikipedia article because this ain't open to interpretation.

Top 40 breh. it's albout where it charts. This is bigger than your regular rap stations

The fukk did I just say? :what:

Songs being equally popular ain't got jack shyt to do with anything.

Rap can be pop if it "has that sound". Drake "has that sound". Kendrick Lamar doesn't. "Get Rich Or Die Trying" as a whole, doesn't. You're talking about "In Da Club"....what about "Wanksta"? "Many Men"? "Back Down"? "What Up Gangsta"? Ain't shyt pop about any of those songs, or the vast majority of the album.

Radio means nothing, when Clear Channel has programs like On The Verge that specifically pick songs to spin thousands of times, regardless of popularity. It's how "Fancy" was forced into being a hit.

Here is an MTV article on "Views". They call Drake pop rap and compare him to Beyonce. They call his music "pop R&B". He's not even seen as a rapper. He's a pop artist first and foremost, that does rap:

Views: A Drake Reaction Roundtable

So what are you talking about? Why does the entire world understand what Drake is, but you don't? Nobody is comparing his shyt to other rappers, besides The Booth.

Here's some food for thought in terms of race: Two of the rappers in the game right now that we are being told are the best and are some of the highest selling are bi-racial (Drake/Cole) at the same time we have a bi-racial president. Coincidence? Or the redefining of what it means to be Black?
