He was a terrible defender, I'm sorry.... Watch the games (they're widely available on youtube btw)
The gap between him and Lebron there is HUGE.

I don't think he's as good as Bron on that side of the ball, but he wasn't terrible. He wasa good team defender and had good intangibles but was hampered by lack of athleticism/speed

Only use averages because that factors in games played and this method does not..

Bro...stop it with this make believe viewer of 80s basketball.

He was hampered by a lack of ability. It's almost as if you're giving him an out. And this "team defender" thing is just fodder.

JUST READ THE OP .. LEBRON WOULD NEVER BEAT THE SHOWTIME LAKERS. THATS A GUARANTEE.
"Bird" himself beat the Lakerrs?

Can you get past this player beat team bullshyt? The Celtics had multiple HOFamers....four on the court at once. Bron surrounded by 3 HOFamers would no doubt have a chance to play on a team beating the Lakers. You badly want to say "bird beat the lakers" when the CELTICS beat the Lakers you back to all caps posting clown.

You're not a Laker fan at ALL to be posting this bullshyt

What year?:deadrose:

Man talking to some of these dudes is like talking to a two year old.

From what I remember off the top of my head the highest bird ever got on was second team all defense and that was twice.

Bird was like Dirk (however bird did hustle, dive on the floor and jump passing lanes which Dirk never did). The Celtics would hide him on defense in the front court.

Bird always guarded the worst offensive front court player (between the PF and SF). The Celtics played a hybrid zone and bird was similar to a free safety allowed to roam and jump passing lanes cause he always guarded a poor offensive player.

For example when bird played the Lakers he never guarded worthy. Bird would guard AC Green or Rambis.

To compare that to someone like Lebron who guarded SFs, SGs, PGs, PFs and Centers (at times) was basically the glue to hold defenses together is just asinine.

Showtime never won 73 games. Bron beat a team that did, and don't act like the lakers didn't get to pad their record in a western conference so bad that 3 different teams reached the western conference finals with a losing record in the 80's :umad:
