I know folks hate that site, but........Try reddit. They should have something lying around there. I only go there for the drum kits and to see what the discussion is at r/HipHopHeads.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Drumkits <- They've got a lot of nice shyt over there. So even if you don't find some drumbreaks, you at least won't go home empty handed if you're needing some shyt that knocks.
thanks breh

I have all the breaks as either wavs or the actual record, I want to swap out the breaks in some beats for something that I dont have to pay royalties or get a clearance for

Honestly, the best thing to do, is just chop and replay them yourself. Can't get sued for snares and kicks.

That's basically how nikkas make their own drum kits. They chop up samples, add some EQ and effects to 'em, and there you go. And nobody is the wiser, it'd be real difficult to tell you got a snare from a certain place if you already did your magic to it.

I was thinking about hiring a drummer to do a bunch for me but I got the feeling as soon as I did that and spent a few hundred on everything, I'd find someone selling recreated breaks for $29 on the internet

Word. I've been doing that for years.

I've seen producers complain about people snatching their snares, but no one owns a damn snare. They're all out there to be used.

You made a hot snare, I made it a hot song. :yeshrug: It's usually not the drums that are hot by itself, it's the producer doing the sequencing and it's the rhythm that makes it hot. I mean, we could get Timbaland's drum kits right now. Doesn't mean we're gonna start dropping classic beats all of a sudden. Variety is good, and you might find new sounds to implement, but if you sucked before.. that's probably not going to change unless you keep making beats as you regularly should be doing.

Guru had that line, "you can't own no loops. It's how you hook 'em up.."

It's true. A lot of the same sounds bounce around from person to person. Doesn't mean they'll all work with them the same way.

Right. Unless you're duplicating the song exactly, it shouldn't matter. Going back to Hit-Boy, lazy or not.. HE, Jay Z and Kanye made that song hot. Listen to the original, then listen to nikkas in Paris. NIP is a way better beat. Who produced it? Hit-Boy did. So as far as I'm concerned... Hit-Boy won, and all he had to do was buy a slept-on sample pack. :yeshrug:
