Being introvert doesn’t always mean that your shy and social awkward. I’ve known plenty of introverts who do well in social settings. It basically just means that you usually prefer to spend most of your time alone then with other people.

I got people in my life swearing up and down I'm a social butterfly because I talk to everyone being a mute isn't being introverted. Had a nikka at work tell me I "changed" because I never go out any more.just cuz I turn up at job functions don't mean I'm about that life.

You getting introversion confused with social anxiety. When you're introvert, you just simply prefer your own company, and it when it comes social engagement, you're more selective instead of rushing out to every gathering or event. Most introverts can navigate social situations just fine if need be, many are successful(ton of people in Hollywood, business are introverted), but it's seen as more of a means to an end.

Social anxious people tend to be more socially stunted and awkward. They usually avoid a social opportunity and gathering all together, and go to extreme lengths to do so.
