A lot of you people don't understand lines, punchlines or lyrics properly. Papoose does have some bad lines, but some of the lines you people posting also NOTHING wrong with and are good. It's also CONTEXT, it's not just the incredibleness of the line, but how it goes with the flow, if it sounds unnatural or fitting, not every line is intended to be mind blowing, it's embarrassing how little some of you know about lyrics, cause you can't write no lyrics, ain't written no albums, it ain't easy, it's a complex thing.

Lol the cooked food line gave it away to most people cause they don't even know Jay's shyt that deep lol. Thats' what I'm saying though, you can take ANY artist lines out of context. It ain't just Pap... But Pap does have some bad lines though, that he should have not written, but got plenty of dope/great songs too.

Papoose's use of wordplay is very simple compared to someone like a Jay
Papoose many a time is more accustomed to relying on simile rather than metaphors to strengthen a sentiment on a song, something that many mixtape and battle rappers like meek, cass, and yes Pap do, and is something that is a level below on what a Jay usually goes for which is metaphors or strong references to push home a point
Also Jay's ability to use a large range of vocabulary with a large range of flows shows he's also a better wordssmith than Pap

If I use someone like Jay as the measuring stick, a rapper like Pap in comparison is a subpar lyricist

Firstly, I think Jay is a very dope lyricist. At his peak he's exceptional, Jay is in my top 5 MC's of all time because he's put his work in. And I feel Jay is a better artist currently than Pap, because he has proved more.

In regards to some of the other points



This song for instance is pretty much a metaphor throughout /personification. He pulled it off very well. How deep is your knowledge of Pap's work? Like Charades and Monopoly for instance come to mind. Pap needs more , a lot more to compete with Jay throughout his career, cause Jay has D'evils, Regets, so many classic superb brilliant lyrical and deep songs. My point isn't at all to downgrade Jay, who I rate highly, and respect highly. But all I'm saying is Pap isn't garbage, that Cure shyt was NOT garbage, nor was it lyrically poor. No-one credible will say that shyt is poor lyrically, he did his thing, he's a talent, just he hasn't proved what Jay has over his career yet for one reason or another.

Also in terms of vocabulary as you mentioned, that's an area Pap probably is FACTUALLY ahead of Jay, he seems to use a more diverse vocabulary, not heard Alphabetical Slaughter? lol. And I didn't even like that song too tough, but his usage of vocabulary was very good. Pap can really flip the flows too, like he did in the Sway 5 Fingers Of Death thing.
