Yes and No. Lol

I've never really enjoyed a traditional MMO like I do this game, but it does have a hidden mmo element to it. It's more like a 3rd-Person open world RPG shooter.

You always have to roll with a group of people to complete most of the missions?

You go hardcore with your games :wow:

No fast travel and no mini map? :merchant:
I started doing it a lot in these open words games after playing DayZ (mod). in that game a map is an item you have to find, and when you do find one, it doesn't show your current location (unless you also find a GPS). so to get around you really have to pay attention to landmarks and such. that game also taught me how to use an analog watch as a compass. Miasmata also had a cool orienteering system, where you could find your position by triangulating landmarks

I feel like all that makes the game more engaging. it's like navigation is a game in itself, and you might even get lost. when you play an open-world game, with a mini-map that has a dotted line to your next location, it's like you might as well be playing a linear game

problem is a lot of games really aren't designed to be played like that, because they don't give you enough info to navigate on your own. games like Arma have an accurate night sky, and accurately display the angles of shadows at certain times of the day. so if you're knowledgeable about such things, you can use them to navigate. other games use whatever pretty sky, and a 10 minute day/night cycle

same with the HUD. a lot of games don't give you any way of knowing what your health, ammo, etc is, without it being displayed on the screen. I like how the Metro games have a button that rotates the gun, so you can see how much ammo is in it. but in most games I can't turn off the HUD completely

I can't wait to try the new Survival Mode in FO4. Hardcore Elite PC Gaming* :win:

*I only play Factorio
