So has anyone addressed the issue of how they're supposed to survive on these wages WHILE they better themselves? : sayword:
Uh go to school? If you income qualify for welfare your education will be of no or minimal cost to you.

Online classes COST MONEY. I am asking how the low wage employee is supposed to afford even a bare essentials lifestyle off of a part time minimum wage job while they improve themselves. You all forget bills must still be paid during this "betterment" process.
or do u think these people are incapable of doing what millions of other common folk do?Anybody can get student loans, every nikka in my hood done had one at some point.
That's what most people do to fund the education, get a loan, Pick a more lucrative field and obtain the pre requisites to enter said field..
Why you acting like people don't do this shyt all the time?or do u think these people are incapable of doing what millions of other common folk do?
Yes its sad, so what are we going to do about it?
Do you think workers were sad when Bethlehem Steel shut down?
Are oil miners in Texas sad that drilling has gone offshore?
Are garment workers in NY upset sewing moved to China?
Are auto workers upset that machines made their job obsolete, while making other jobs easier?
America is in its 3rd industrial revolution. These transitions are painful for many. Each revolution put many people out of work.
The idea is not to ask for a damn thing, because change is inevitable. Instead, change yourself. Look into the future and see the big a$$ tsunami that is heading this way and get out of the way. Look into the past and learn painful lessons from others.
That is the only way. In the 1900's you had oil towns, steel towns, textile towns, lumber towns, auto towns, coal towns, sawmill towns, etc. These towns are all gone. I didn't know that Bethlehem, Canton, Youngstown, Detroit were all throbbing hubs of economic activity. You can't take a damned thing for granted, not even the $8.50 these people are probably making at Taco Bell.
Watch the tide and surf that ish, don't get washed out.
smdh @ all these people thinking someone is gonna make things better for them not realizing that people have gone through worse. You seem intelligent, but you need to open your freaking eyes, there is no white knight except yourself.
Why can't people see that?
all that money can solve every job crisis and then some. But let these execs play God and run you existence.
And by common folk I mean all of us that had to work for something. I'm not belittling people that work in that industry.
Uh go to school? If you income qualify for welfare your education will be of no or minimal cost to you.

uh yessa bossa man...uzda bossaman. Uza tellsa me what ya wanna pays me and I sho wont complain about it. No sir! Uzda boss!
These runaway slave niqqas and they corporate mentalities is something else. Dont question. Dont fight. Fall in line. White man running the show.
And get the fck outta my business and stop asking personal questions like a nosy hoe. My personal life doesnt have sht to do with anything.. Im good. Stop trolling.
This is as good as it gets here. Are you all slow? I'm asking how someone is supposed to live off those wages TEMPORARILY and your response is go to school?![]()
Student loans pay for SCHOOL. They don't pay bills. How is a 35 year old mother of two working part time at McDonald's supposed to pay rent/utilities/food/clothes etc while she's going to school? That's the point. How is she supposed to live in the meantime? Temporarily? Are you all seriously this dense?
And instant gratification? nikka, you all discuss going to school like you can just walk into any college and be like, "Hey teach, I'm here!" All of that shyt takes time and effort. Meanwhile bills are piling up.
So once again; how is someone supposed to work at a minimum wage job, part time, go to school and pay bills? It's not about making it a career. It's about surviving at any level for any length of time. Could you survive on $8 an hour while you try to improve your situation? No.
Breh, there are thousands of college kids doing this shyt right now... yeah the shyt aint the greatest situation, i've done it... and many other people will continue to do it.
and even in your scenario of a 35 year old mother... programs like WIC, subsidized housing,EBT/cash assistance etc.,state insurance help out alot..
You saying it like it's some impossible feat...when it's something many people are doing.

Yet the same people who look down at these low wage workers want to cut or end these same sort of entitlements they highlight as a lifeline?

College kids?
Anyway.....so you're saying these wages are okay because the government will foot the bill for the difference? Along with the student loans?Yet the same people who look down at these low wage workers want to cut or end these same sort of entitlements they highlight as a lifeline?
People can't even keep their stances consistent from thread to thread. Retta has stated many times she's against borrowing and debt, so how they hell is a poor fry cook supposed to go to school? Now your stance is difference because it fits a particular argument in this thread? :belip:
So, once again, why shouldn't you pay these workers a living wage (not even $15 an hour, stop focusing on that number) instead of relying on the government to do your job? That's a handout, right? Corporate welfare.![]()
The whole point is that a minimum wage job that requires minimum skills DESERVES to have a minimum wage attached to it.
