okay, they should be making 11 per hour. and the states should be imposing the minimum wage.

You can't be making 7.25 an hour working full time in New York City and surviving off that. Maybe in Cheyenne Wyoming but not in the big cities.

The fast food industry will never fall in this country. (They will never outsource these jobs.)

There is no excuse to be treating their entry level employees like that. (No chance of moving up in the company since they Franchise to other owner.)

when you have these people making 7.25 per hour they are definitely on food stamp and other social welfare services which is a drain onto other tax payers.

The average age for fast food workers is 28 for males and 32 for females. That is sad to be making 7.25 per hour.

You're just being argumentative. Somehow we are to assume that one of the biggest corporations on the planet cant afford a marginal increase in pay to their workers --- workers who btw are not earning a livable wage. And I already covered the equilibrium part, and how "hiking prices" is merely a scare tactic employed to keep people from organizing against big business.

And you conveniently ignored my example of in and out burger...whom I have "intimate knowledge" of, and I know they start their employees as a wage that far exceeds one of the biggest corporations in the world. Get real.
You dont know the diff between revenue and profit, and you dont even know what McDonalds numbers are. They had a revenue (all the $$$ from sales; income before expenses) of ~27B. They had a profit after taxes of ~6B. They have 1 million franchise workers. If we assume they are all making ~$9/hour average and working the full time hours of 2000 hours a year (they aren't, but again I don't think you know that), they're making $18,000/year. You split the 6B among 1 million people, that's another $6K per year, which is $24,000 a year or $12 an hour. Let me repeat, if McDonalds gave all their profits back to their workers in 2013, the workers pay would be $3/short of $15/hour. THIS is why you have to actually look at the numbers and know what you're talking about.

Plus how the fukk would they do it? They have a fiduciary obligation to their shareholders to generate a profit. So to get this income back to their employees they would have to buy all the stock back. McDonalds has about $100B in stocks out there. W/an annual income of ~$6B it would take them about 17 years to buy it all back. There is nowhere else to find the money- a big company like McDonalds isn't wasting $10 billion dollars a year on stupid shyt, they are cutting waste everywhere to generate profit for shareholders. So the idea of McDonalds hitting some magic "worker's justice" switch and doubling their worker's pay overnight is fukking ridiculous. Its an idea that only someone who has no idea how business works would insist is not only possible, but easy. Its the idea that frankly only someone at the level of a fast food worker would dream up. I hope you learned something today :aicmon:

If you really want to help the fast food workers, you have to go at Bloomberg for putting tourists, foreign investors and rich people ahead of the working class in housing policy. You have to go at whoever is causing healthcare to be so expensive, be it whoever generates the taskmaster references at hospitals or pay for play politicians. You have to go at the colleges for charging such crazy tuitions, and the govt for writing them blank checks to do so on students' backs. McDonalds' worker's problems aren't low pay, they are high costs... there is a difference.

And in any case, McDonalds has never been in the business of providing a living wage, they have always paid a "high school" wage. Now all of a sudden people want to be able to buy a house on a fry cook's pay. No. You want more, do like McDonalds workers have done from day one and get the hell out of there. Nobody ever retired as a damn McDonalds franchise worker.

Good luck with that. The cost of living has never gone done since the great inflation in the 1970. The minimum wage should move with everything else, that is how you don't breed poverty.

In this job market, where everything is specialized, you can't give up a steady paying job.

They don't want to buy a house but they need to pay their bills.

Yall nikkas are not going to be millionaires working for someone else. Not IT, not nursing, not working as an engineer, NOTHING. Stop defending "capitalism" aka fascism and stop defend the 1% that would have locked you up in chains if it was still legal.

$15 an hour = current cashiers out of work.

College grads will be working there....$15 an hour w/ benefits is a decent strarting point in this economy.

I say they lowballin, with the amount of profit these chains make they should demand at least $20 an hour.

Why not $30 and hour while they at it?

McDonald's will close those locations before they give nikkas a 50 percent raise to flip the same quarter pounders they was flippin last week.

If I need to pay my bills, I'm gonna try to situate myself so I am not forced to take a part time minimum wage job. Again, nobody has EVER been able to "pay their bills" on a McDonalds franchise worker's pay, even back during the "good old days". Why is it a requirement all of a sudden?

shut the fukk up and show some respect to people who are trying to make something of their lives. sure their jobs may be menial, but they're working. they deserve livable wages.

Up here in Canada workers at a Walmart started a union you know Walmart did?

They closed that location and all those folks lost their job

That's the point, why you tryna survive off 7.25 in NYC? You either need to prepare yourself to command a higher salary or you need to leave NY.

For a HS kid makin $200 a week working part time is straight. If you an adult with real responsibility and people depending on you and you think McDonald's owes you a "living wage" to do the same shyt a 15 year old does then you fukked up.

They don't have $20 an hour skills or education!! Why do they deserve that much? People won't even take a damn training class without bytching and complaining. School is the ant-Christ, yet somehow they should be paid a double digit wage? Naaahh.
