At what point would/could the warriors acquire the rights?
If he stays with the Warriors for 3 seasons
At what point would/could the warriors acquire the rights?
because he wouldn't have signed in the 1st placeWhy would Durant take a paycut?
Curry takin another paycut? Curry gonna mop at Oracle after games to make ends meet?Curry. A nd durantwill take paycuts so this is moot.
Russ and KD, Embiid, Dubs Cap minutiae, other things
Going into next year, the Warriors have only 5 players who will still be signed, Draymond, Klay, Damien Jones, Kevon Looney, and rookie Patrick McCaw.
- Green: $16.4M
- Klay: $17.8M
- Jones: $1.22M
- Looney $1.19M
- McCaw: $905K
Under the prospective new CBA, 5 things look to take place that will limit GS's ability to resign both Durant and Curry.
- The 10 year Vet max threshold could be moved back to 8 years resulting in Curry being eligible for 35% of cap with a max contract
- Because the warriors do not have Durant's bird rights, the Warriors cannot exceed the cap to resign him
- The mandatory number of players under contract will jump to 15
- The rookie wage scale is going to increase due to cap jump
- Minimum salaries are going up to $800-900K
What this means:
The Warriors are currently sitting at $37.55M with their 5 players and they must sign 10 more to fill out their roster. As previously stated, must have at LEAST 35% of the ~100M open cap to resign Durant.
Curry's cap hold can be weaseled down to $19M putting them around $56M.
If they want to keep Iguodala, his cap hold will be $17M putting them up to $73M, already unable to resign Durant at the $35M max. Livingston's cap hold if they want to keep him will be north of $10M putting them at ~$85M. With only these 8 players already putting the Warriors well into the luxury tax, they will also have to add 7 more players some how to hit the new 15 player minimum.
Consequently, they will either have to get Durant to pick up his option, jettison Iguodala, or be willing to lose Curry or Durant.
They did?Warriors were up 3-1 and lost
If the Cavs stop them this year....Nice insight into the business side of things. So it's this year or no year - then again, if a billionaire is willing to invest - who cares about the luxury tax?
Curry takin another paycut? Curry gonna mop at Oracle after games to make ends meet?
again with the endorsements. They get endorsements already.as much endorsements he has plus he comes from an affluent background, he just wants to win everything else will work itself out
You sign Durant first, bring in a bunch of vet minimums who want to play for a contender
Re-sign iggs and Livingston
Then sign curry last since you DO have his bird rights..

Lol warriors would let everyone else go before they give up either one
37. Can a team with cap room sign all the free agents it wants (up to the salary cap) and THEN re-sign its own free agents using the Bird exception?
A team's ability to do this is very limited. The team's free agents continue to be included in team salary. This charge is called the "free agent amount," which is a form of cap hold. There may not be enough money available under the cap to sign another team's free agent, because the team's own free agents are taking up all its cap room.
Or KD and Durant...could just not sign max contracts...and it won't matter...
Curry would be crazy to take a pay cut, he's late 20s, has an injury history, and is SEVERELY underpaid now even by NBA standards. also, the NBAPA doesn't want their stars taking pay cuts anymoreCurry takin another paycut? Curry gonna mop at Oracle after games to make ends meet?
