I agree with one point wholeheartedly, it's far more expensive to eat healthy.
I can cop some Valencia orange juice for 6 bucks a gallon, or some Tampico imitation orange juice for 88 cents.
If my kids gotta eat, and I have barely any money, it's harder for me to justify the more expensive purchases.
My parents didn't always have time to cook because they both worked 2 jobs when we came to the US.
No exaggeration, my breakfast 5 days a week was knock-off coke, and donuts.
I shouldnt even be alive

shyt is foul man. Some people weren't introduced to nutrition until their 20s. I say this because I think BW often can be swept into the fat category because of their curvaceous bodies.
Obesity is also a trend in the AA community. I'm not saying we have to worship or praise fat people, but we shouldn't make them feel guilty for something that may not be their fault.
I'm a cook. I cook in a black community. I've noticed my people eat like shyt. I used to as well because I was raised in the hood. Our eating habits are developed as children. Single parent households may feature fast food once a week as a meal option.
People eat what they can afford. my healthy Bros and Sisters usually have educated themselves about nutrition independently or with school. I don't think they're strangers to processed foods which are addictive. This myth that black people are fat because we only eat soul food is dangerous. It's cheap processed foods that's the culprit. Soul food served in fair serving sizes would be great for you.
When we equate obesity with being unattractive we're not helping. People eat their feelings. Low self esteem can cause over eating. So can depression and anxiety. If you think about it when we insult them we're enabling them.
One day our community will figure out how to make health food a staple in our diet. Until then we have to stop hating and those of us who know should teach.

for The Smiths reference...lolI assure you I think about how I can do this all day. I'm obsessed with it. I've been working on a cook book for years. I know healthy great looking and tasting food can be cheap and easily prepared and grown. I'm poor as fukk and I eat well. Sometimes I slip and spend 30 dollars on a meal. But typically I spend very little money.Exactly
Until these people screaming nutrition over everything can come up with alternatives to fast food and processed food price and taste wise
Uneducated and poor people will never have a healthier diet
on here yeah, but in real life I've never experienced negative comment about my weight from a black person other than my grandmother, but she just dislikes my overall appearance.I don't think black american people actually fat shameon here yeah, but in real life I've never experienced negative comment about my weight from a black person other than my grandmother, but she just dislikes my overall appearance.

Make sure it isn't her disliking your overall appearance, but instead her caring about your health an well being. Remember the truth hurts, but it is better than being comforted by a lie.I don't think black american people actually fat shameon here yeah, but in real life I've never experienced negative comment about my weight from a black person other than my grandmother, but she just dislikes my overall appearance.
yeah it's a myth.....we don't shame each other about weight....if we did we'd probably be skinnierI don't think black american people actually fat shameon here yeah, but in real life I've never experienced negative comment about my weight from a black person other than my grandmother, but she just dislikes my overall appearance.
excusesI don't think most people understand this aspect if they've never been overweight.
I didn't get this way overnight and I've not been fat my whole life.
In the past 10 years I've had a series of events that started a chain reaction of emotional eating.
I could I lose weight and be healthier yes I can and yes I have and kept it off for several years.
I think weight loss has to start with fixing a person's emotional health. Because once they've gotten to the root of why they are overweight and why they want to lose weight emotional healing can began and help them lose weight and keep it off for good.
Right. Our community is one of if the highest risk for diabetes. nikkas got phones hooked up to the internet and common sense. Americans just lazyfukk that.
Our diet is the main reason black people die
What about other forms of "shaming"?

Me too. I used to kill myself to be fit according to science. People thought I was on drugs because I was so skinny. It got really bad at one point. Funny thing is I balled at the time so I was nowhere near fat.Truth. I'm considered overweight by the BMI and at my heaviest I was obese, but honestly I didn't look it at all. I'm curvy though.

Cosign. There's a reason poverty and obesity go hand in hand. The closest grocery store in my neighborhood is a 50 min walk from my house.shyt is foul man.
