Strange. I took a jury survey on this very scenario today.

I can't remember the exact word but the expert witness had a term for it. The basal ganglia is on autopilot and takes over the active memory part of the brain and you just go about your business.

I understand your brain running on autopilot sometimes but bruh… I check my rear view mirror all the time when I’m driving and I don’t have kids. At least when you get out and lock up you would’ve seen them in the backseat.

I remember one case from a long time ago where they came back to the car at lunch, went and picked up food and went back to work. Said they never noticed the kid in the backseat. That shyt is unbelievable.

Fate of Campaign to Save Kids Trapped in Hot Cars Now in Congress’ Hands

Yeah, y'all must have forgotten this same thing happened 2 years ago in the Bronx, now they're trying to to get car manufacturers to come up with some kind of warning alert. Kids of a certain age are supposed to be in rear facing seats, so sometimes things are a little tougher than some of you might think.

It's a simple sensor and relay. Just like the one in the driver and passenger seat that fukking beeps until you put on your seat belt.

Or (like my car) the one that fukking beeps if you leave the key in the ignition when the drivers door is open

Or like the one that fukking beeps when the key is out of the ignition and door is open but the headlights are turned on (on manual) vs auto off.

Strange. I took a jury survey on this very scenario today.

shyt happens.

People leave groceries on top of the car and drive off. Hell leave groceries on the bottom part of the cart and pull off. Forget they have to get their kids from school or practice.

I fukked up one time working overnights and didn't close the garage and that interior garage door goes straight into the house. We live in the burbs but my lady sent me a text at like 5am about it.

I don't think I could ever justify leaving another human being in my car. I can't fathom it but it's not impossible.

Unless you driving something old, I don't know if people lock up anymore. Usually just get out and hit the button on the fob as they are walking away and listen for the horn to beep.
