The right answer should be "both".

Get you a daughter that can do both.

Independent but also aware and respectful of the family unit.

I’d be damned if I teach my daughter to be subservient and to have to live off another person.

You don't have to pick one. A woman can be smart, have a good job/skills, be able to support herself, but still have the qualities of a wife and know how to cook, be cleanly, understand a man, etc.

You should also help guide her into marrying the right man. That also plays a big role in her ability to do both

I'd ensure she felt loved, safe, and supported as a child so she can develop the tools to succeed in whatever she wants to do as an adult.

Teaching her to cook and clean so she don't end up living with me.

We'll see if I regret teaching her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
What would be the potential con to having a daughter that can defend herself?

What do we mean when we say independent exactly? That she has marketable skills and can make a living for herself?

So she doesn’t have to rely on a man for her survival because brehs can be just as skiddish. leaving her pregnant or just walking out one day.
^^^^^^^^

Just wanted a man to clarify. If a woman says this, it’s the end of the world.

I agree. As long as she’s taught what to look for and value in a good guy, that’s a win/win
