I keep up with local politics in this city and I must say from my observations black people here did this to themselves. We fck ourselves over trying to keep politicians in office who don't have none of our interests in mind. And a lot of the black elected officials here are puppets, bought by the rulings party to mislead the black community. Its bad now, and it will get worse in the next 5-10 unless black people unite and deal will ALL of our issues.

Breh I’ve grown up with people complaining about Daley…Rahm …Lightfoot. The cycle keeps repeating itself. Why??

IMO most voters don’t have a fundamental understanding of what they truly want & if they do they don’t consistently put pressure on politicians.

The only practical solution is for black people in Chicago is to grow up and come together. I know dumping "illegal" immigrants into the black community is frustrating, but in all honesty we have a hate for one another thats so deep that the black community is the only area that you can put them with minimal push back. We use to be 1.2 million strong in Chicago 30+ years ago. Now we're sitting at about 700k and still shrinking.. Look at this video that happened in a area that was predominantly black just 10 years ago, now is running over with Mexicans.



With this going on EVERY F*CKING DAY and black people moving, to a politician it makes sense to dump them immigrants into black communities. I can place blame on politicians misleading the people, but we actually make it easy for them to do so. Its becoming clear what the problem is for those with eyes to see.

If we're being honest, the glory years of Chicago was when blacks was involved in the political process. The Harold Washington years of the 80s, blacks was thriving. When he died, black politicians was literally fighting for who was next, AT HIS FUNERAL!!! That started the down hill slide of black Chicago. With all the infighting and lack of participation, white politicians starting pulling resources from the community.

Over the summer our youth flooded the downtown area, twerking on ambulances and police cars. Shyt got so bad, a 16 year old was shot and killed at millennial park. The people asked whats wrong? Nikkas said its nothing for our kids to do.. My wife and I looked at each other and laughed because its plenty of things to do at the park district we sent our kids to. You have a segment of the community thats not involved and don't care about anything, even their own kids. Until we do better, we're going to keep getting what we've been getting.

It’s crazy when you think about the fact that Lightfoot isn’t even a native Chicagoan. She’s from Ohio and grew up in a white neighborhood. I’ve been a Chicago resident longer than she has (because I was born here).

I always got agent vibes from her, and I didn’t vote for her in the primary or the runoff with Preckwinkle (didn’t vote for her either).

Are y’all implying Mexican communities aren’t being displaced and gentrified? It’s happening in LA right now. East LA neighborhoods like echo park are making way for hipster types and the established communities there can’t keep up with the soaring costs of living. It’s happening all across the board, and considering Mexicans and blacks occupy the same neighborhoods across the country, we bear the brunt of these aggressive practices.

You must be naive to believe that republicans are against big government. They are only against big government insofar as it doesn’t dictate what the white establishment can or can’t do. This has been the prevailing attitude in the antebellum south and is very much a factor to this day.

Charleston White made a good point in a recent interview.

He said MLK was mainly followed by the youth in the beginning who wanted to integrate. The elders were against it and told them we already got our own shyt, we don't need to eat at White places when they obviously don't want us to be there.

It sucks that MLK didn't realize that he made a mistake until the end of his life. Then they killed him when he was ready to fight for reparations. We should have never left our communities and local economies to patronize White establishments.
