Russia's military is one of the best in the world. It had America scared for over 50 years. The world's largest nuke was detonated by Russia, russians were ahead in rocket technology which scared the shyt out of our leaders because they knew that meant they'd beat us to ICBM tech and be able to bomb an American city without needing planes or aircraft carriers.

But now look at what has become of Russia. The country that once could march or threaten american military dominance was getting that work from a smaller country (ukraine). Having a powerful military doesn't mean much when you're not investing in the things that make it the best(technology, the health of the population so the average soldier is younger and more fit)

This is a national security issue as well. If China and Europe are investing heavily in education and producing scientists, recruiting american scientists and focusing on eliminating mental illness, drug addiction, chronic disease, etc. They'll have a younger fighting force with more sophisticated technology within the next 20-30 years.

Europe rearming means they are investing in their local arms manufacturers which means JOBS for europeans. They're going to get their people to work. Its part of the reason America got out of the depression in the 1930s. They focused on getting every adult man and woman to work doing *something* and getting paid for it.

The way out of this is a second new deal. Return the marginal tax rate and claw back the trillions that billionaires have been hoarding and reinvest it in a federal jobs program to get people back to work. Go crazy with fines to make sure any corporation engaging in wage theft, fraud, monopoly like activity or price gouging is fined then use that revenue to fund Healthcare and make Americans healthy again. Take the billions in subsidies that were going to morons like elon musk and create a federal college network. At least one federal college in each state. 100-1000 dollars(max) per year for tuition. Nationalize banks that recklessly gamble, nationalize airlines that are run like shyt. Create a government subsidy for independent journalism based off if they fact check, verify sources and have a union or co-op organizational structure to weaken the chokehold that the profit incentive has on news.

We are talking about an overhaul here. I believe Trump will create conditions so bad that the only way to fix things is to take dramatic action like we did in the 30s. The problem is the morons who are alligned with trump who will oppose all of the above. They're 77 million strong. I dont know what can be done with them other than using them as cannon fodder in a war or forcing them to accept education and training before getting a job.

A conflict between Russia and the US is the essentially the end of the world as we know it. I don’t really see the point of talking about it when it’s never going to happen. The cost would be too great to the rest of the world

Like you said, As great as they are they can’t even conquer a small country because of the US providing resources.

That doesnt actually matter if your strategic objective is to take over the land.

You've got more jets and ammunition. Okay, you've just destroyed the infrastructure of the country and the chemicals used in your munitions(sometimes containing spent uranium) will make it so you won't be able to grow shyt on the land you just turned into a crater. What's the move then?

It's like telling a boxer you're stronger than him because you have a pistol. Shooting and killing him doesn't make you a strong boxer. Americas strategic goals are defense of its territory and expansion into new territory. That's been the policy for years and it's the reason Puerto Rico and Samoa are basically colonies. You can't capture and hold territory if your soldiers are riddled with illness and are old because people aren't having kids and there's no Healthcare to keep them healthy. Drone and missile technology will be outdated because you aren't funding the education system that produces scientists to innovate that shyt.

Does the american military have overwhelming fire power right now? Absolutely and its not any close. Is the american military strategically better than everyone? The Vietnamese, Iraqi, afghans, Cubans and north Koreans can tell you fairly confidently 'no'. America's strategists don't have the skill required to take and hold territory, pacify resistance and get buy in from the locals to accept the new regime.

China has more naval ships that could overwhelm the US especially with masterful execution of strategy but the US’s air superiority would probably edge them out.
