Why are people excited for miles? Dude might as well be a cardboard stand in.

It's crazy to me how few people have noticed that Miles gets the least amount of character development in his own damn book. He's just sort of there while Ganke, his dad, and his mom get all the meaningful development.

I've read nearly every issue of that series and I'd be hard pressed to tell you what Miles' personality is or tell you how his character would react to certain situations.

But when you brought it up it wasn't racist?
Dude said fresh off the boat :beli:

Bear in mind this is also the same dude that said the casting of the Dora Milaje in Black Panther was too black and would turn away the white boys at the box office - he's either not black or is a c00n.

Ok, did I change the subject or something?
Not sure if you are trying to be cute or acting dense but let's say hypothetically he's Morales, u have a role for a 12-16 yo, attah already looks 33 today.

"He didn't seek the role they sought him to be in Spiderman knowing he's not ready and will need another couple of years to learn English and accents". All the while there is a brit/AA thats eager that actually looks like a kid ready now.

There is a difference between this statement, which has context and your flippant remark that out of Africans, brits and AAs who would be most "hungry" for roles. That's what a cac in grade school (trying to be clever) would do.

Got a lot of cheek trying to turn it around on me

Trying? I did. Way to drop the context argument immediately. lol
Other than that you just repeated your initial dumb point. Thanks for playing.

He got a cool suit :yeshrug:
Miles has a lot of potential and can fill the void left behind by Static after DC dropped the ball on him.

He's an idealistic kid whose still a bit naive to the world and gets easily flustered, so Bendis (his current writer) overdoes it a bit with the melodrama by having Miles supporting cast always going through the most, and making Miles reactionary to it. So he always has a lot of nervous energy and it's gotten a bit stagnant imo.

But Bendis served his purpose. He gives Miles the best artists, the best feats, puts him in the middle of all the big events, and now Miles has exposure in the cartoons, animated film and soon the MCU. It's more important that Miles is fleshed out in the animated movie than it in the comics. Just like BP's movie is more important than anything in his comics.

But yea, Miles costume is flames too :ohlawd:

i dont agree with this. the comics are the basis of all these characters. panthers rich history which has been building for decades in the comics is the stock that enriches this movie soup. without that, i doubt as many people would give a shyt. miles is in an odd predicament because he shares the name of one of the biggest fictional characters in history, hes been blown up despite being the weakest of all spider characters(hes not even the best black spider man) if he was any other character, he wouldnt be afforded the same liberties

Nah, as I said, the comics (i.e. Bendis) served it's purposes by giving Miles a foundation to get him where he is now. Now it's up to the MCU/animated films to make him connect with the mainstream. Tbh, with all of BP's 'rich' history, he was on the shelf for 20 of his 50 years and really only had a 10 year span (from Priest's run to Hudlin's run) that was ideal to pull from primarily. Prior to that, you'd have to go back to the 70s to see him cook, and even a lot of those were questionable. Plus he's been subject to a lot of :mjpls: for much of the last 8-9 years, with shyt characterizations i want no where near the film.

But now that he has a movie out, Coogler's depiction will be the depiction millions will be exposed to (after CW). Similarly, Miles depiction in the animated film will be the one seen by millions. As long as they bring the charisma there, he'll be fine. Same with T'Challa, for which i have absolute confidence in Coogler and Boseman's acting.

I think he needs some villains of his own...maybe that'll help his development. I keep saying that they should bring back Alpha and make his a villain to Miles. Or take him away from home..solo for a while. Or maybe he just can't sustain his own book. When he debuted, it was already a package deal with his family and such. I like his supporting - Mom Dukes..she scares me....Ganke, now Goldballs, Bombshell....but at times they overpower his (lack of) personality.
