nikkas in here saying the industry is slowing down is giving me anxiety about putting all my eggs into that basket. I like the idea of trucking because I can move to any state and find a job.

If the rates are historically low now, the only way the rates can go is up in the future. This is now the perfect time to invest in getting your CDL A and learn the industry, because when the market picks up, you can reap the benefits. There so many avenues you can go to after getting your CDL A

Transportation is one of the oldest industries and oldest professions in this country, it is going nowhere

Ok for sure, but I'm telling you Beverage and Food Companies hire Drivers after just getting their CDL A. Just talked to one dude last week who got a CDL A job with 7Up right out of CDL school
Yea I know some companies pay you and also give you a chance if you work in their warehouse for years.

For those who don’t understand the massive difference between gross and net in trucking. It’s not like a normal job where you Gross $2,000 and take home let’s say $1400

If you’re truck isn’t paid off it’s very easy for you to only bring home maybe 25% and even that’s not including taxes

Since she is at Landstar they take 35% of that 20k

Then she has to put money for her truck which could be as high as $900 a week
Then a maintenance account. Then insurance, tags etc. then we get to fuel. Which if you’re running hard enough to grow 20,000 then at minimum you’re spending $2500 in fuel. Possibly even $4000.

And like I said it doesn’t include taxes

Edit. Just watched the video. She said she is a team driver. That means the truck is constantly moving. I’m willing to bet they spent at minimum $4000 on fuel that week
Well if your team driving then yeah your not restricted by the clock.. you can run the truck 24/7

The majority of drivers do dry van or reefer so that's oversaturated. Flatbed, hazmat and tanker are pretty much open if someone gets their TWIC card and endorsements. That's why I laugh when I read comments like "It's Biden's fault!" like he created this overstock or "the illegals and foreigners are taking cheap freight and driving down the prices!". I feel like there's more than one way to make money in this game. If I go tanker, I'll lease on to Schneider or Heniff. I'm not even thinking about my own authority yet.

You just got your CDL out the cracker jack box a few years ago champ. :pachaha:

I got two trucks out here, while I do other things. You're way out my league. You pumping your pom-poms as if thats the norm. If you thinking you're about to get out here right now and make $250k like its common, then you're sadly mistaken.

And like I said, its not about what you GROSS, but what you take gome. If you're gross don't out pace your expenses, and freight rates now is low now. Then you're basically pulling loads for free..

People just looking at the gross is why the industry f*cked up now.
Facts… my cousin got the extended sleeper Pete with the kitchen, shower and toilet and he hauls aircraft engines and boats.. he’s on the road crossing the country and back like 3-4 months at a time.. truck paid off.. He knocking down like 200k gross .. I’m assuming because those are specialize loads… They got his number on speed dial so he don’t even have to hit a load board lmaoo

The biggest drawback of trucking is how bad it is for your health and family life. I see it firsthand everyday.

Like people have said, you have to do heavy loads, chemicals or be OTR(over the road aka long distance) constantly to make the real big money. That's as dangerous as you can get and not something to take lightly.

CDL's are great to have as a guaranteed money train to fall back on. But driving is like the dope game: get in and get out as soon as you can!

Add in the fact that Yellow Trucking just abruptly closed last week and now all 30,000 of their drivers are looking for jobs.

Yellow shutting down shop is creating the opportunity for the owner operators now to get those loads

None of these people actually give the real numbers, any time a business owner or entrepreneur makes a video talking about ANYTHING, it's pure cap! If you really making $ you don't have time to have a side hustle as a content creator because it sucks so much time to do that. Creating content takes hours away from your real work and if you work for yourself you'd be looking for revenue streams that require the LEAST amount of time and energy to generate income.:unimpressed:
Big facts. The time you got to put into making content, especially videos, would conflict with a lot of other time-demanding jobs
