Can we please have an intelligent discussion on why some posters feel that feminism is a tool of white supremacy?
I've been accused of it several times. I would like to understand how some posters are making that connection.
Feminism was started as the white woman's complaint to her white male counterpart. The white male counterpart who owned the resources to control her fate and that of larger society. The white woman's complaint was NOT to men in general for she knew no other man could control her fate without the express permission of white male power structure.
Hell, at the time the movement was created, black men and even other non-white men were being brutalized across the country and mostly couldn't even marry white women. So, there was no possibility of them being the focal point as well.
SO, with that being said, feminism WAS AND IS a white woman's issue. They have used black women to increase their numbers for political maneuvering, but outside of that, they have repeatedly shown contempt for black women who try to champion causes that were made for white women.
White feminists back black women, who are feminists, when the rhetoric can be used as a weapon against black men, which is an aid to white supremacy. They have never and will never team up with black women against white male patriarchy. Black people have always been used as a tool against other black people whether house slave vs field slave, light vs dark, woman vs man.
So, when it comes to their role within "feminism", the black woman's job is to belittle, berate and b*stardize the image of black men. But those same white feminists will join white patriarchs to attack black feminists who turn that behavior towards the true culprit, white male patriarchy. And black women, who are feminists, know this whether they admit to it or not.
The fact is, the only
ISM black people need to focus on is RAC
ISM/White Supremacy. Everything is else is simply a distraction to the larger point. Because even if you were to not face discrimination as a woman, you would face it for being black. And you faced many of the same hardships as black men because of the weight of your RACE, not your gender.
Focusing on feminism is a cop out quite honestly. It's a way of saying "Hey, I'm like white women....I face discrimination for being a woman too. So, we're kinda teammates. And teammates help each other. So, I shouldn't have to be hit the RACISM/WHITE SUPREMACY club as hard since I'm a feminist like you, right?
White feminists don't go for it though.
