I can't ride with the concept of the wage gap...

I have to ask what positions that statistic (77 cents to a dollar) is taking into account.
In regards to all of the positions that are out there, there are jobs out there that require crazier schedules, hard physical labor, more dangerous work, and a risk of serious injury or death. Most of these positions are taken by men.

Not saying that women CAN'T do them

Generally speaking, people working more dangerous jobs like this SHOULD be paid more regardless of gender, in order to compensate for the risk involved. Otherwise, nobody would want to do it.

The second thing I have to ask is that if women are inherently making less (77 cents to a dollar), then why would employers bother to hire men at all when they could save all that money by only hiring women?

If you focus on further cementing male political and economic power, you will be making it more difficult for women (and black women specifically) to advance In these fields. If you loosen paternity laws, it will that much easier for black men to leave their families in effed up situations, even more than do now, if that could even be possible.
