I know it's based on an older play but I've never seen it.
This movie without a doubt deserves a best actor and best movie nomination at the very least. I love movies where the dialogue can mainly drive a movie because it is an aspect of movies that solely rely on acting ability and writing ability. This movie does both extremely well.
I also loved seeing a black movie that was not simply living in the ghetto and constantly being in misery to the point that the characters can become a parody (Precious

Instead while the movie does focus on a poor black family, the main focus of the story is how for a man that honor and pride is so important, and how he grappled with that aspect of being a man while at the same time feeling like he had been tripped up and given a bad deck in life that was out to hamper him and how he coped with that. Grown man shyt brehs
Anyways, go see the movie. When you don't have special effects, stunts, and cheap shock value to save you, you have to act your ass off. That is what everyone in that movie did
