I know it's based on an older play but I've never seen it.

This movie without a doubt deserves a best actor and best movie nomination at the very least. I love movies where the dialogue can mainly drive a movie because it is an aspect of movies that solely rely on acting ability and writing ability. This movie does both extremely well.

I also loved seeing a black movie that was not simply living in the ghetto and constantly being in misery to the point that the characters can become a parody (Precious :hhh:).

Instead while the movie does focus on a poor black family, the main focus of the story is how for a man that honor and pride is so important, and how he grappled with that aspect of being a man while at the same time feeling like he had been tripped up and given a bad deck in life that was out to hamper him and how he coped with that. Grown man shyt brehs :mjcry:

Anyways, go see the movie. When you don't have special effects, stunts, and cheap shock value to save you, you have to act your ass off. That is what everyone in that movie did :wow:

I wanted to see this, but coli was hating on it for like 4 pages based on trailers. So me know nothing about movies, said fukk it.

I believe I heard a group of older black men talking about it, and they all loved it. are the black ladies mathematicians?

I don't pay attention to convos in large group. i just like getting air on Sunday evenings and being seen.

taking any one here seriously :hhh:

Honestly the trailer didn't make me want to see it.

It looked like a bunch of black people fighting each other, so despite how good the acting may be, I don't like that shyt.

Perhaps i'll check it out, even still.

My dad is kinda like his dad (haven't seen the film i've seen James Earl Jones clips on YouTube and read it in high school)

That soul crushing feeling is real, your parents know how to intimidate you and make you feel like shyt worse than anybody else can. Tough love makes you tough though

Its based on the Black playwright August Wilson's play Fences.
He writes a play for each decade of the 20th century, taking a stylised view of the era.
He's an absolute staple in terms of modern Black literature, and all of his works are on point.
I'd definitely recommend you check it out, some of the best acting I've seen in years.
It'll be a crying shame if there aren't awards given for this movie.

I'm getting this on dvd as soon as I comes out.
I already had a paperback copy of Fences to go along with Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.
I'd recommend every to go see this movie.
August Wilson put this in Denzel Washington's hands and it was not disappointing.
