If only D.J. Stephens could make a NBA roster next year. :ohlawd:

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
NBA should've partnered up with AND 1 and let street ballers go head to head or at least let NBDL players participate.

They would be a bunch of no names but at least they would have confidence. I mean how much confidence does a someone who rides the bench have once they get all the spot light. all them nikkas was shook

The problem with the dunk contest is these players are all bums. You get these nikkas who never get in the game on national TV with millions of people and all their peers watching. They get nervous as fukk and miss dunks they probably make all the time in practice.

The best dunk contests are always the ones with star players in it because they are used to that spotlight.

and that's why college dunk contests are usually better. at least the participants are starters even if they played at a small school.

problem are the dunks are getting harder and harder to do cause people have seen everything b4 gotta do something people have never seen :wow:

exactly.

i dont know why people cant comprehend this.

yea, shyt was trash... how come these dudes miss so many damn times? Back in the day, a guy would miss once or twice at the MOST... you'd figure these scrubs know they'll never be on a big stage like this ever again so they'd be practicing for weeks, but they still suck

The contest just needs more recognizable names. Westbrook, Blake Griffin, Rudy Gay, Josh Smith, JR Smith, Paul George, Iggy, etc. I know basketball fans who had no idea who some of the contestants even were tonight, so imagine the casual fans who don't really follow the NBA like that.

There's also way too much usage of props. That shyt needs to go.

because back in the days, the dunks were simpler & type-repetitive. thats why alot of them completed the dunks in one-take.

the people that claimed they were real basketball fans, lied to you homie. these players arent scrubs. all of them play except for james white, who is a slam dunk legend. some of these dudes are starters. kenneth faried will be an all-star in a year or 2. gerald green is no newcomer to the big stage. hes won this contest already. and i believe he may have been like 19 when he won it.

with the exception of russell westbrook(who doesnt strike me as a contest dunker), all the names you listed have already been in the contest. some have been in the contest multiple times.

if you didnt make the all star team then you can't be in the dunk contest.

yall are too much into names & hype.

what type of rule is this?

most great dunkers were never all-stars. most all-stars were not competition-caliber dunkers(lebron). alot of those dudes cant dunk at all.

you eliminate dudes that never made an all-star game and you eliminate most of the goats, most of the memorable dunks, showings & moments.
jason richardson
spud webb
terrance stansbury
j.r. rider
kenny walker
harold miner
desmond mason
j.r. smith
josh smith
javale mcghee
cedric ceballos & his infamous blindfold
dee brown wrecking shop

thats just off-top. and im not even counting the dudes that didnt become all-stars until after the contest.
nate robinson's impossible dunks

why didnt any of you so-called dunk enthusiasts support that sprite slam dunk contest when they aired it on nba-tv? that was the better contest the past few years. ya man lebron even hosted it last year. and since some of you are such dunk gurus, you couldve sent a tape in to enter the competition yourselves. yall talk about how they shouldve brought people in off the street, but you didnt even support the street show that they helped showcased. if you did, they may have possibly considered incorporating it, in some way somewhere down the line(i doubt it, but still). and the d-league has their own dunk contest. yall never even acknowledge it, but now you want the d-leaguers to get involved. stop it.

f**k what ya heard, last night's contest was dope. ross & evans showed out in the finals, but got no props for it because barkley wants to get moist over superstars.

lebron cant dunk better than any of the dudes that were in the contest, and hes already gone on record stating that hes not built for this competition.

contest didnt live up to my expectations. i thought green & white were gonna have another legendary showdown, this time on the biggest stage, but it didnt work out. i also thought faried was gonna pull a dwight/blake.

but yea, contest was still dope.

This is why the early-mid 2000s era is the GOAT, not just for NBA but for entertainment in general :blessed:

I knew that shyt was gonna be wack. I watched the Beyonce documentary on HBO and then after that i watched the Adrien Broner fight on HBO as well.

Didn't even set my DVR to record that bullshyt either so I have no interest in watching the slam dunk contest accept by accident.

for those saying that they need to get rid of the dunk contest, i dont know how old some of you are, but i remember when they did get rid of it, and the entire show was dead because of it.

there is no all-star saturday night without the dunk contest.

people dont even realize how ill some of these dunks were because they didnt use in-game dunkers like lebron.
