Why are you giving me data from over a decade ago?

Resident Evil is bigger than it has ever been especially here in the states and continues to grow. It's stayed at the forefront and has created a lane, and that's why I said it re3 and cyberpunk might hurt the sales here in the states.

The genres couldn't be more different and RE3 comes out like a week ahead of it.

In Japan I expect them to lean towards ff7 re3 then cyberpunk.

In the states, i expect it to be cyberpunk, and a toss up between ff7 and RE3 initially.
because it shows that FFVII isn't some Tales of or niche JRPG series that isn't well known. You literally said FFVII is going to be behind RE3 remake... Like what? You're completely understating the impact that FFVII Remake is going to have.

Resident Evil being bigger now means jacksquat. Let's look at RECENT data since you want to act like NOW FF is somehow not big as it ever wase:
FFXV sales

Within the first twenty-four hours, Square Enix reported that Final Fantasy XV had shipped five million units worldwide in both physical shipments and digital sales—a figure which allowed the game to "break even" on development costs.[142] This gave Final Fantasy XV the biggest launch in the franchise to date, the most first day digital sales in Japan for a game up to that point, and set records for physical shipments and downloads in mainland Asia.[143] Commenting on the large numbers, Tabata revealed that the strong sales saved the Final Fantasy franchise as a whole, which had seen declining commercial success in recent years.[144] According to Square Enix, shipments had reached over six million worldwide by January 2017.[145] In May of the same year, Square announced the game and Rise of the Tomb Raider helped to increase sales and profits for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.[146] In a later interview, Enterbrain president Hirokazu Hamamura stated that the game had sold seven million copies worldwide by January 2018, ranking it as a "huge success".[147] By October 2019, that number had risen to over 8.9 million.[148]
So about a year and 2 months after release it sold seven million units.

RE2 Remake
By December 2019, the game had sold over five million copies, which was more than the original game.[48]
So within a year it sold over five million units.

RE7
The game entered the top 10 of "Capcom Platinum Titles" that passed 1 million sold copies, and by September 2018, total sales reached 5.7 million,[110] which rose to 6 million by that December[111] and 6.8 million by September 2019.[112]

Kingdom Hearts 3 sales
On February 4, 2019, Square Enix announced that more than 5 million copies were sold, becoming the fastest-selling title in the franchise,[159] less than two weeks after its release.[152]
So in less than A MONTH KH3(a JRPG from Squeenix) sold over 5 million copies..

I mean breh is this really the argument you're making here? That RE3 remake will be more popular than FFVII, a long awaited and beloved remake that fans have been clamoring for since they saw a tech demo teaser for PS3? Come on man stop playing :stopitslime: and this isn't just "jApAnEsE plAyErS!".

If we were talking about Tales of or Persona or something else okay but FFVII remake? I know people who don't even have PS4s that want to get a PS4 just for the game.

Come on breh u trolling :pachaha:

My overall point is that being sandwiched in between two games one that already is getting goty talk and not even out yet and another that is hugely popular in the states and Japan hurts it's spotlight and potentially sales. Coming out a month earlier (3weeks) or even later would have been a better look imo

I guarantee you it will not hurt it one bit unless the game itself has some shockingly bad reviews or bad word of mouth but so far it isn't looking like that. RE2 and Kingdom Hearts 3 came out literally on the same day and both got the success they deserved. RE2 sold over 5 million in a year. KH3 sold faster but it wasn't a race.

Yeah they might be hurting themselves something serious with this move.

RE3 and cyberpunk are going be move units. And while FF7 is hype and wanted....it's still a remake of an RPG.

In the states people are probably gonna pick up RE3 and cyberpunk over FF7....

RE3 on the 3rd
Ff7 on the 10th
CP on the 16th

Eh....

Cyberpunk most definitely has more hype.. and RE3R is coming off of that RE2R blaze..

I've been waiting for FF7R for a long time... but yeah.. I don't think this was a good move sells wise.

They shoulda just delayed to June if they were gonna pull this shyt

I'm glad it got delayed. People might complain now, but it's only ever in hindsight that people call a game rushed. The internet bytched and moaned about FFXV's delay by two months, and look what happened. People say Kingdom Hearts 3 is rushed (I don't personally, it's my personal favourite of 2019 BUT that's besides the point), but complained when I think the date got moved to early 2019.

Square Enix knows that this is game they absolutely CANNOT afford to mess up, because if they do, their reputation is tarnished forever. Too much is riding on this, and considering how they've also had to deal with the criticism of shipping out games earlier than they should be releasing... It takes a lot of balls for the company to come out and say "Know what... We're gonna need more time. :francis: Don't worry though, it'll be worth it."

I'm not sure if the data-mining may have also played a factor, but I like the fact that game developers are coming out more now and being honest with the consumers about game delays. Most people are understanding that sometimes things happen, and you need a bit more time to deliver on something great. April might be brutal on the wallets (start pre-ordering now brehs if you haven't), but I'm optimistic that it'll be a great period for gaming. It'd be nice if we got the demo as something to hold us over, but now that it's coming a month later... Hm.

I feel bad to those who booked off March just to play the Remake though... :francis: But I feel like Spring-Summer time is always a great time to kick back and play games, so no great loss. If anything, just more time to save that money for what's coming next.

if they cared about their reputation they wouldbt have broke up a single game into multiple episodes we have to pay full price for

Good this might be one of the first bigger games to finally get hurt with this. Stop putting out dates you can’t meet :yeshrug:

i think it has more to do with sales. launching at end of first quarter vs launching at beginning of second quarter.
Pretty much, they want to boost 4th quarter sales reports.... Always want to end your quarter looking up.

It's why so many games all of a sudden come out in feb-april now instead of like September-Nov
