The issues with XV is that they tried to make a Compilation of FF7-styled universe for FFXV straight out of the gate.....

Back when Nomura was heading it, Versus XIII/FFXV was essentially supposed to be a darker and realistic version of Kingdom Hearts. The original battle menu back in the V13 days was very KH-like, and the combat was as well. But, you could switch to different party members. When Nomura ended up getting removed from XV to finish KH3 (and eventually FF7R, but he never knew he'd be the director until later on), that's when a lot of the OG XV stuff changed. So that's why the battle system might be the way that it is. It has potential, but never really reached it. The Warp-Strike is a really cool technique, and the weapon switching mid-combo is pretty fascinating as well, but it needed more polish.

In fact, most won't realize this, but... A lot of the features in FF7R you can tell were probably intended for FFXV. Notice how FF7R has some KH-like elements, even though the combat itself doesn't play like a Kingdom Hearts game? Like the Shortcut Menu for example? Even the Main Menu for KH3 and FF7R have similar elements. I'm not saying FF7R is literally recycling Versus XIII ideas, but there probably some elements and concepts for the combat system and field exploration that ended up carrying over.
When I read Versus 13 was action rpg I was excited. I watched the movie and anime. Then when reviews came and I saw nikkas was pushing a car and camping in the woods together and there was only one button for hitting folks nikka was like wtf.....

I have linked Lightning with Barett since that's the weakness of the Scorpion. I end up dying once this shyt does the missile attacks. I realized a well timed Thundara can cancel out his missile attacks while it's on the wall.
Damn. It shouldn't be hitting you THAT hard. Definitely recommend Barrier for that...
Damn, I thought curaga was the answer, I put that in everyone’s slot. So pray and chakra would be bette to use rather than everyone have cure?

And then refocus is even better than I thought too? Lol

So I’m better of using chakra, pray, and refocus, than just rely on cure?

I rarely use any of those, maybe that’ll make the game even easier.
On hard mode specifically.

Curaga is fine normally. And I wouldn't even really say that putting healing on everyone is really a necessity on either mode. With one dedicated healer you should be fine and a secondary healer in a pinch you should be definitely okay. You just have to make sure to stay on top of certain attacks.
iight so magnify and barrier over magnify and cure? I think I can buy another magnify if need be.
Can't buy another Magnify unfortunately. It might be possible in NG+ or hard mode but I'm not sure.
Isnt there a way for when we cast spells we can cast them three in a row of succession like we did in the original?!?:patrice: i clearly remember I did that shyt before with the barrier spell... Like cast 3 barriers all at once...
Magnify

Magnify and anything friendly will hit all party members at once. Time x Magnify isn't a bad option either if you've got two party members with a maxed out Pray. Definitely more risky though.

I didn't use Barrier/Manaward yet. The FIRST attack it does is the electric stomp which can do a lot of damage so I immediately roll back as soon as it starts. It's when the field generator comes up that it starts the problem.

Are you playing hard mode? What part you on?

Edit- Actually I don’t know if I asked you this already on materia, if I did I’ll go look for it.

Last question because I know I’m asking a lot lol, but what would be the best materia to equip in your opinion?

I feel I’m not understanding how good certain materia is.

I'm skipping around in Hard Mode right now. To farm and grind. There's no point grinding in Normal past a certain point because hard mode is like 2x EXP and 3x AP - and there's EXP and AP materia to get as well.

BTW, the white dog sidequest from the sector 7 slums is WAY harder than the Scorpion boss in the Mako Reactor.

Hard mode means you just have to prepare for each section and boss fight. Like no surprises, this is the shyt you HAVE to do, preparation. Someone else mentioned First Strike - its whatever in Normal. In Hard Mode its a necessity because it means you can just get right into what you need to do to kill enemies early or get defenses up fast enough to not get bodied.

Enemy Skill is extremely important. Just too versatile for a single slot.

HP up is as good as you can get to upping defensive stats substantially.

Chakra and Pray ofc. Revive is essential. I actually like Bio as well because it won't ever miss and its cheap:francis:

I'll think of some more later but those are kinda must haves imo. Things change a lot defending on who your group is.You cannot do Barret healer-tank shyt with anyone else. :mjlol:

I'd definitely give manawall + magnify/lifesaver a shot. Should fix all your problems. Make sure you've got Pray on Barret as well. Maybe Chakra on both since its a two man battle.

I'm not sure if you can slow that boss, but I'd definitely recommend people start looking throwing side effects on bosses when given the chance too.

Its fukking awesome :manny:

Enemies break out new shyt and the combat system is surprisingly up to the task more times than not. Little stuff like uninterruptible enemies though will absolutely run through you though.

That white dog on hard was harder than Leviathan on normal.

So you guys are telling me that hard mode has no items and benches don't restore MP? So how tf are you supposed to restore MP between battles? You just have to be more selective with magic during fights I guess?

There's ways to regenerate it still but you gotta be way more reserved in how you spend it.

:mjtf:Alright, did anyone else encounter the game crashing bug in the air duct? Just finished some VR sessions & have to do it all over again because I had to restart the game! I looked it up and it's a thing. Unbelievable!

No items.

No checkpoints.

No MP refill when you sit on blue bench.

Bosses and enemies more damage.
:patrice:
Well it's pretty hard but at least you can only choose it after you complete the game which makes sense as it'd be damn near impossible to beat on your first playthrough as you'd be extremely limited in abilities.
ok post game completion makes more senes, lol
