I was right about this game. This was a Final Fantasy that abandoned the core identity of the series to chase sales and regardless of what the people that loved it say it's pretty clear it did not hit they targets they had for it.

There are sales numbers out there that suggest the Pixel Remaster outsold this game. Maybe next time don't try and turn things into a character action game without much in the way of a party. Maybe next time go back to a turned based game with actual strategy.

There are plenty of turned based RPGs out there doing fine. It's time to return to what they fans came up with and stop chasing the CoD type audience. Final Fantasy is never going to be what it once was again but it can still be great.
They abandoned the raw RPG, collectibles, exploration, RPG element final fantasy to make a devil may cry Mobile game. Story had all the potential in the world. They just fell flat on the actually rpg side of the game

:mjlol: fukk that turn based shyt. Game was fire, especially first play through. Did something fresh. I hope to god FF never goes back to turned based, that shyt trash. FF7 remake/rebirth is a good middle point between turn based and Action.

FF’s (and DQ) version of turn based combat just wasn’t that fun outside of FF12 maybe that actually allows you to strategize a little bit.

You’re just guessing. At this point it’s a case of just not wanting to be wrong or hoping you’re right because you want them to make turn based games again. Theres a corner of the internet that continues to be mad weird about final fantasy lol

you were foolish to even think that the game sold 500k copies in two years (even with the PC release that probably sold that much on its own) or got outsold by the pixel remasters lol
It’s a sound logical guess. You think if this game sold 50 million copies they’d sit on that number and not be shouting from the hilltops about it? You think if the game sold under 5 million copies in 2 years and the last one sold that in the first day they’d be as inclined to talk about it?

This is like encountering a resume that list graduating from college but doesn’t list a GPA and your argument is you don’t know what their GPA was it could be anything and my argument is if it was closer to a 4.0 than a 2.0 it would be listed upfront. If it’s closer to a 2.0 it wouldn’t be listed.

Companies with highly successful products have highly predictable behavior.

I think this game had to have sold at least 4 million copies by now. I'm more shocked they haven't given a number on Rebirth's sales though.

I can't believe people are acting like a publicly traded company with a very successful product that meet or exceeded it's expectations would simply be silent on it instead of updating their shareholders and the general public on how successful it was post-launch.

The argument is you don't know what it sold. First off I admit that and my question is why don't we know? This is a flagship product they spent years working on. We got first week sales and nothing has been said since. A company letting even just a full year go by with such a huge release not updating on how a product that was very important to the company is doing it telling.

We did see they said their HD games didn't meet expectations and we now see them bemoaning an exclusive release strategy they purposely went with like there's something wrong with it now.

Not saying the game was bad because it wasn't. Not even saying it was a failure. Saying their lectures about not going with a more traditional turn-based party game because that doesn't work was complete bullshit. Ironically I see some people who defended their decision salivating over this Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 game that is modern looking and turn-based and somewhat looks like what a modern turned-based FF game could look like.
