I just went through that government website and they hooked me up with Sallie Mae. I just assumed it was the way it worked. They accepted my IBR and I thought it was all good.
Now this bullshyt. It's blindsided me. I dunno what to do
What was the technicality? How were they able to do that?
I dunno. I just got the email after work so I couldn't call them. They just said they denied my IBR reapplication and I owe X now. They're getting a call first thing Monday morning. I assume it's some fine print shyt. I dunno...all I know is come Nov 15 I'm gonna be owning Sallie Mae a shyt ton if something isn't changed.

I hate Sallie Mae. They actually sent me an email in February stating that I had maxed out on my in-school deferment and that my monthly payments would begin whether I liked it or not. I honestly almost had a heart attack. I thank the lord because my high school mentor just paid off half of my balance and I'll make sacrifices to pay off the rest over the next two years. Sallie Mae does not care though. They want their money and they don't care if you have it or not. I'm literally going to pray that your situation works out though. It's not fair that they're able to go back on the deal that you agreed to...

I wish I could reconsolidate with somebody else. But I think it's too late for that. I need to talk to a financial adviser ASAP
I think the moral is to avoid Sallie Mae like the plague if at all possible. I wonder if other companies are like this too though...this thread has me kinda nervous

I know some people that are just like you. From what I was told is that if you keep going to school it'll be in deferment,so u won't have to pay until stop going school. Just take a class or two so you won't have to pay.
