I'm outta psych doing business shyt now (org sciences is a combo of org psych, comm, and business shyt). I'm working on my dissertation now. It should take 2 semesters to complete.

i'm going to be honest, i am not familiar with that discipline or what someone would do with a doctorate in it
even a ph.d. in organic chemistry is not close to being worth six figures of debt

what is your earning potential if you complete that degree? how much does it change from mid-60's you make now?

if it doesn't affect the bottom line, pursuing that degree (even two more semesters) might be a luxury you can't afford
as someone said, you might be better off getting a second job

but don't trust the internet- run the full numbers yourself
there might be a way to make it right
best wishes that it works out

The degree will not give me any extra money, at least not in the short term. It may in 10-15 years. But I unfortunately can't think that far ahead right now.

It's more that I'm so close to finishing this phd, and i would feel terrible if I couldn't finish it. But it may be the only solution (quitting school and working two jobs). I gotta talk to a financial adviser. Maybe something can be done.

You should've went into medicine. You could've finished that debt easy. Are there any money makers for a phych degree? Get a phd if there is.

You need help. Stay strong and make you call and ask why they raised your payment

Yeah, they're getting a call first thing Monday.

I'm working on the PHD now, but it won't net me any additional money if I get it.

I wanted to get a phd becuase I thought I wanted to be an academic. Then I realized I hated teaching :dead:

Going for that PhD was one of the worst decisions I ever made. I shoulda just stayed with the 50K in debt from my masters and left it at that. Oh well. Too late now

I mean is there a better servicer?
I thought they were all the same tbh, but @kevin arnold is making it seem like there are better ways of doing things. I guess I'd just research it more. I just trusted the website and didn't do enough research. I thought it would be all good because they accepted my IBR for 2 years. Then all of the sudden this shyt.

I/O psych :krs:
Is it worth it? It's either that or social work for grad school :ld: I like them both.
I/O will make you a lot more money, but social work will be more fulfilling. I/O is basically a degree that sends you straight to an HR or personnel position. If you like that kind of thing, go for it. I can't stand HR, so that's why I went with org sciences for my phd. I have a strong stats background thanks to my i/O degree and just do medical research now :dead:
