They do have that $11.8 trade exception from the Nets deal now, they can probably bundle that to get rid of Jonas. The TE means we can take on salary and not have it count towards the luxury tax, it means we can also do a sign and trade. This could work with the Pacers (CJ Miles) or the Hawks (Thabo). I don't think it's a good idea to take on more salary though, it'll be harder to retain Norm next summer. I rather just trade Jonas + the TE for a pick or a prospect, but it's pretty unlikely either teams will depart with one of their better prospects
I agree with not spending the cash to keep Norm. Gotta move Val though. I think he can catch decent return if we can convince another team that he was being misused here (which he was to an extent) and would flourish in another system. Bringing in a vet center to share minutes with Poetl and help him develop is an idea. But still, it seems there are big holes on the team.
How you gonna get a decent return on a cac stiff like JV? He's the antithesis of the modern day NBA big. His "potential" isn't even a factor anymore because he ain't getting faster as he gets older into his prime years.

That is a must, he fukkin sucks. But I'm sure there are at least a few GMs out there who still think he can be late bloomer. I'd even take an early 2nd rounder for him at this point just to get his salary off the books.

We're under the tax and have a trade exception. It's not a bad offseason at all.
I think Masai is making the right move keeping the core intact right now. The East is weak and there are a lot of bad teams. There's no point tanking right now. Get a couple of cool seasons in (maybe another ECF showing) and then we can tank when Milwaukee/Philly are coming into their own.
