PIP = look for another job asap
go off on leave and come back = look for a job asap
manager doesn't like you and you're not unionized = look for a job asap
Bro, he is that type of “good innocent” type of dude. Who thought he could pull it through
I find it crazy a hospital in the US has no HR department.

Is this a thing?

That’s normal tho for salaried people. If he was hourly and he stayed after work and wasn’t paid then that’s against the law

Damn. So homie doesn’t have a case that can pull a good severance package. They only told him they will pay for pto that he never used

Explain the bogus performance review part cause in at will states a company can fire you for any reason as long as it’s not discriminatory

They could have made something up to fire him for, like his attitude, but it was a dumb decision to bring his attendance and performance into it because if he has proof that he was on time and working it would put them at a terrible disadvantage in court. They'd have to backtrack and find another reason for the firing, how could they prove it wasn't discriminatory if their reasoning was his attendance/performance, and he could prove it was falsified to make him look bad?

This didn’t happen to me but my cousin. Dude works in a hospital as a system admin (remote). He has been there for 6 months and he always complained that his supervisor (Indian lady) didn’t like him at all.

Two weeks ago the lady put him on a PIP that was to last for a whole month.

Honestly, I read that PIP document and it’s totally not him. Everything was graded an F (even attendance) and he has never skipped work.

The PIP was to be for a whole month but two weeks later (yesterday afternoon) she fired him.

Here is the fukked up thing though……he couldn’t complain to anyone because they don’t have a HR department. NOTHING.

They tried to make him sign the PIP but he refused. Now they want him to sign the termination letter too.

Can he claim discrimination or something? Just tryna help a brother out
I’m calling BS on this part of your story off the fact that all hospitals have an HR or Administration Dept. Also it’s legally required for companies or organizations to have a complaint disclosure notice.

How did he get hired? And who hired him?

Of discrimination? I don’t think so
Then move on and find a new job. Personally I would write an email to the lady and cc her bosses and dispute the pip alluding to some sort of personal non business related reason off my firing. But with documentation of proof. Glassdoor is also good to leave review to save others the trouble. Nothing slanderous or personal. If no documentation then he has nothing .
