:gucci: You using a video game to prove your point?

Since we doing promotion related shyt with the persons likeness on it, what about Jordan’s shoes?

Nothing Tyson did can compare to that, that video game don’t even come close. I remember when Jordan’s used to come out on Wednesday’s, if it was a hot release that shyt was like a hornorary cut day basically. Half the school wouldn’t even be there until after lunch. Teachers would even joke about it. Even folks who wasn’t getting the shoes would be like “fukk it I ain’t going to class cuz ain’t nobody else gonna be there”

I remember when the patent leather 11’s dropped in 95 (?), same joints that’s coming back out Saturday, my whole hood copped. Talking bout little kids on up to grown ass nikkas with grandkids. Between that Wed when they dropped and that weekend coming up, we probably hit up every mall in the city at least 40 deep, just loitering basically. And we wasn’t the only ones, you might another groups of dudes from another hood strolling thru bout 25 plus strong, all with the J’s on. Mike Tyson a great one, but nothing he every did compares to that type of pop culture foot print. nikka Ima be on my death bed remembering that one.

By 95 ..Jordan clearly was the bigger star....but in the 80’s.....???
It was Tyson bro...you can’t rewrite this fact

Not even 95 was Jordan bigger.. by 97 yeah... after the bite fight he took a massive hit but upon Tysons release from prison he was far and away the biggest athlete in sports and on the planet..even in jail he was the most talked about athlete on the planet. It wasn't even a question of if Tyson could win his titles back but when. I remember people walking around in Free Tyson shirts.

Most serious boxing fans dont know shyt.. they just repeat what other clueless boxing fans say.. how can someone who unified the titles and cleaned out the top 10 within 3yrs of his debut be a fraud?

It wouldn’t be any different than a young Tyson coming in and clearing out a weak heavyweight division today. But when it was time to really show his heart he couldn’t. He’s nowhere near a Holyfield, who came up from cruiserweight and stood in with everyone.

I was a baby in the late 80s and Jordan reached “God Mode” in the 90s so if anything their runs at the top were seperate eras.

The 80s will still Magic and Bird running things. Jordan didnt win his first ring until 91.
That’s basically what I just said. I’m older than you plus I’m from Chicago, so I know this already.

:mjlol: What isn't true? BBC is the main news channel in the UK. None of the other news channels cover the US like that and when they do it's more shyt about Trump or breaking news

BBC world news coverage >>>>> any American network.

I really didn’t understand how sheltered to the rest of the world we are until I lived abroad.

The average first world citizen outside the US knows more about politics/ events/ sports worldwide than the average American.

80s Tyson
90s Jordan

Is the best summary.

It's difficult to compare though:
Everybody got around to watch a "Tyson fight". This was a once in a while thing, but a major event.
Jordan would consistently make the news with a highlight and had a constant stream of news.

In terms of pop culture, we had Jordans and there was also:

Nobody will ever be what Jordan was at his peak. He was everywhere. Kinda on Michael Jackson status.

Especially since serious boxing fans know that Tyson was a fraud who whipped up the chumps but fell short when it was time to dig deep against fighters who weren’t scared of him.
Michael spinx wasn't a chump and holyfield had to cheat to beat Tyson

People really forget how big Tyson was. He had endorsements, lunchboxes and all other kinds of deals rolling in at a time when racism was still blatant and in your face (unlike now where its covert but still present) because he was just that dope.

He was one of our own doing it big on a level that was just so far and beyond anything else and had the talent to back up his ego.

Dude was street, unapologetic and real with no soft shoeing or media training in interviews, just keeping it all the way 100.

The true prototype for what would come after in terms of rappers wanting to be like him and the closest we ever got to a real life Tony Montana rags to riches story that unfolded in front of our eyes and his talent/achievements/style is something that still stands to this day and likely will never be touched because he was a true heavweight that moved with the speed and accuracy of a welterweight.

Same Holyfield who was popped using steroids and ended up with heart problems because of it? That couldn't hold on to the belts or unify? Same Holyfield who damn near got beat by an even oldet Holmes that Tyson managed to knock out in 4 rounds? Same Holyfield that feasted on Tysons left overs? Get real.. Holyfield was a great fighter and so was Tyson.. Holyfield would even tell you he needed to beat Tyson for his legacy and heavyweight legitimacy, Tyson was already being talked about as one of thr greats by the time the 80s ended, thats with just 3yrs in.. Tyson was a generational talent that only comes around maybe every 50 years.
