To make a more complete post I'll lay the cons and pros. This is for SOUTH Florida by the way... don't know much about elsewhere.
Cons:
1. Racial tension in certain areas depending on where you go. I couldn't give you specific areas, you just kinda have to know. And by racial tension I mean, walking into a cuban owned business and being looked at in a "wtf are you doing here" kinda way or "you better not start no trouble" type of shyt. See unfortunately, there's a lot of hood ass nikkas in Florida that are the exact stereotype of ghetto. nikkas you see in a old Trick Daddy video. So at times I kinda understand why the racism is still there. Truthfully, as long as you appear to be a mature gentleman, i.e. no sagging, wear an actual shirt and not a wifebeater, no gold teeth, no dirty looking dreads, or walking with a limp and mean muggin, you should be okay. But races typically stick with their own kind.
2. Bad drivers. Especially in Miami, Boca and parts of West Palm. That's mainly cuz it's a lot of old people in SoFL. These drivers NEVER signal, make some irrational moves and hardly pay attention as they're driving. But again, it's not everywhere, but it's apparent in certain areas.
3. Jobs. Thing about this is, you can't just be looking for any job, you gotta be in a specific field. Luckily for me I'm a delivery driver with a Class A license. I be telling nikkas a CDL will take you places. Even when I apply for jobs that don't require it, my application is still first on the list. Other than driving, I know it's hard to find other jobs that don't require you to be bilingual. It's rough. Plus the pay isn't all that, but you will be able to pay your bills, rent, etc. Might not be able to have as much fun, but it's up to you to figure that out. But definitely focus on a career and not a job.
4. Women. The women here are the most high class broke hoes you'll ever meet. They think they're worth more than they actually are. It's real hard to find something you would wife. You could find something to smash, but after that... these chicks really don't got shyt to offer but looking for nikkas to offer them the world. Most non black women aren't looking to date outside their race. As I said, races stick with their own kind. Sometimes you'll get lucky, it's not impossible, just difficult.
5. Police. As long as you don't come off as an aggressive person that poses a threat, you should be alright. But cops out here don't play. It's best to just be as cordial and kind as possible when getting pulled over and stopped. I can only speak for South Florida, but I heard cops are even worst in Central Florida.
Pros:
1. Cheap. Cheap rent, cheap car insurance, cheap bills, everything is typically cheaper than up north. A lot of people say Miami is expensive, but I personally say bullshyt. I'm from NYC so everything in Miami is cheap to me. A decent 1 bedroom apartment for $800-$1000 sounds like a deal to me. Backyard, porch and everything... shyt I'm with it. Only Floridians consider Miami expensive. Everyone else looks at them like they're crazy.
2. Roads. Some roads have 4-5 lanes of traffic going both ways (except Miami which is real cluttered). It's really no reason why you can't get where you need to be outside of rush hour. The roads are spacious, you feel free to do as you please for the most part.
3. Weather. Weather is great all year round, especially in the winter when the most you might need on certain days is a light sweater. In my opinion winter is the best time of year in FL. Sometimes it sucks when you get unexpected rain showers that last about 15 mins, but then it goes back to sunny weather.
4. Parking. You never have to worry about finding a parking space. Every store has a parking lot. shyt stores are always in big plaza's where there's big parking lots. Don't gotta worry about paying for parking, finding a spot (depending where you are). No hassle with parking. Coming from NY, the convenience factor in that alone will make you love driving in FL. Suddenly running errands isn't so bad.
5. Activities. There's actually a lot of shyt you can do in Florida. I mean, most nikkas only know going to the strip club or hitting up house parties. Aside from visiting the beach there's shooting ranges, boat rides, water skiing, extreme sports, ice skating, fishing, paintball fields, track racing, etc. There's different fun activities, nikkas just gotta find it.
Overall, I love it. Like I read in another thread. Just have a career and stay in shape and you'll be good. Fitness is a big thing in Miami especially. You could do good as a fitness trainer in MIA. Fitness and nutrition is a bit of a demand. Don't let the internet cloud your judgment of FL. Most people just focus on the negative.
