For the first time since 1990, there are no hip hop songs in the Billboard top 40

Good. This wave of nontalented folks using rap/hip-hop as a get rich quick scheme needs to come to an end.

Homegirl who did the wham whammy track was an insult. Homegirl did hair and just made a catchy tune and get a Breakfast Club interview.

This is the side effect of the drake kendrick beef. Drake is corny, and he was a plant, and he definitely got what he deserved from Kendrick but that motherfukker was the golden goose for a whole lot of rap artist and all of them "ganging up" on him was the dumbest shyt possible. That fight wasn't their fight. They should have sat back in the cut and kept getting features. Too many motherfukkers on one hand got paid with Drake and on the other hand was like fukk Drake.

:yeshrug: Drake was Kendrick's target alone, he didn't need any of them other rappers' help. Ironically enough cause it's bird related but Drake was the Hip Hop golden goose and there aint no artist in the wings. Drill rap isn't commercial enough.

No new stars and the legacy acts can’t carry the weight anymore. Not like before when we had the WTT era we had emerging stars that had promise (current big three). Not to even be :flabbynsick: because I give them all a chance but the flows, lyrics, and delivery just aren’t there UG is mostly :trash: rn

Every time someone tries to critique what's current, its defenders cry: "old heads always talk shyt on the next generation".

And maybe that's right. Maybe "back in my day.." is a cliche. But that doesn't mean we're wrong.

Finally some confirmation that we're not just :flabbynsick:-status. Hip hop is truly in the gutter right now

Hip-Hop requires effort that rappers nowadays can't be bothered to put in. Which is understandable.

A lot of subject matters have been covered in the last 50 years...it's hard to come up with something new, yet it's not that difficult either but it requires great effort.

Lil Duval’s take on this is women dont consume rap in spite of all these women “running” rap right now.

The truth is Anglo saxons appear to have moved on and spending their time and money elsewhere.

Them churning out all these terrible female artist who are doing thensex worker songs was a sign the culture was on life support and companies running on fumes to milk it more.

Hip hop/rap is shifting back underground which has pros and cons
