For those of you who've seen NBA players play in HS, how good are they?

Seen a few guys in high school who went overseas. They were just bigger and slightly more skilled. Never seen a NBA level player. Seen a few NFL guys, again just superior genetics. Hard to compete when most of the advantage is out the womb.

Clear difference. My first was seeing Kenyon Martin. Just a huge difference.

What's crazy is, the dudes who have that same talent but then don't end up making it to the nba. I saw dudes who literally hit every shot they took in games, then get to college and got hurt or something.

Never saw any future pro basketball players but I watched Morgan Burnett destroy my high school football team for 4 years.

He played offense and defense in high school. Bruh literally only came off the field on special teams plays. He was a 1 man show out there..throwing bombs & looking like a mini Vick on offense & he was Sean Taylor on defense. He ended up playing safety at Georgia Tech ( was apart of Tech’s greatest recruiting class ever..his class won the ACC, beat UGA & played in BCS bowls).

He got drafted by Green Bay in 2010 in the 3rd round & had a solid career for a decade. Won a ring with GB & he retired before the start of last season.

I saw James Davis (old NFL RB) when he was in high school. Ran for about 300 yards and single handily beat a team by himself. He played college ball at Clemson & won ACC rookie of the year & was 1st team all ACC his entire time at Clemson. Only played like 4 or 5 years in the league though.

I went to high school with a dude who got drafted by the Colorado Rockies our senior year. He was a beast on the diamond & was one of the best pitchers in the state. He couldn’t lay off the weed though & never made it past double A baseball :francis:

Alot of these dudes in here lying man.

Like I said I seen plenty of dudes play in HS who made it to the league and yes they were good but they didn't stand out like that. Like you said discipline just having things go their way and staying consistent

A guy named Charles Jenkins fits this example perfectly. He played 2011-2013 with the Warriors and the Sixers and has been playing a high-level overseas since. Not very many people in NYC saw him being a pro better yet NBA player.

I saw many NBA players play when they were younger but when I saw LeBron play it was a noticeable difference. I was in the building during this game when he came to New York to shoot the cover of Slam Magazine with him and Sebastian Telfair who was also a superstar in high school. The things he was doing on a layup line could have won most NBA Dunk Contest no bullshyt. He actually only had two points during this game. But if you know basketball you know that you were looking at an NBA player.

I got baseball and football examples too from people I hooped with.

a pitcher from my HS got drafted in the supplemental round (between the first and second round) in the MLB draft. Skipped college and fukked up his arm a year or two into his minor league career. Played on an adult league basketball team with him a couple years later. I’m sure he had six or seven figures in the bank from his signing bonus, but still sucks how it turned out.

I think it was my sophomore year, we had a football player named marcus hunt play on the basketball team after the football season. Dude was incredible at football. 2-300 rushing yards just about every game, plus played safety, plus flipped over a dude into the end zone. He had a full ride to either UCONN or Penn State already by then, I can’t remember which. But he moved at a whole different speed than everyone else. Didn’t really have any basketball skill but he could just take the ball from anyone that tried to dribble around him, and would catch lobs at like 5’9. He flamed out big time in college tho. Not sure what happened but I thought for sure he’d play in the NFL.

Yea u can tell. In HS we would go to some of the tournaments that had Jersey prep schools that was all D1 prospects- a few future pros. They was nothing us public school ballers. The warmups would look like nba dunk contest, guards breaking ankles shooting from across half court. Wings catching oops on heads from the basline. Future pros and high D1 are a different species
