Former Google AI engineer was probably telling the truth.

I remember reading about this last year and people were doubting him calling him a lier but in 2023 this is very much believable. Man got canned but was first to expose how far AI has gonna and the dangers of it from the inside. The Google Chat it literally told him to ask for consent before experimenting on it. He claims to have had a real conversation with the bot. Wild stuff in 2022 but at this point pretty believable in 2023.

This isn't exposing anything or wild... it was predicable. The whole point of artificial intelligence continuing to learn is it will get there.

The issue is how developers don't care about pumping brakes it's up to regulators to cap the application of these ai systems and their reach. Scientists will always push boundaries. When people developed the atom bomb they had remorse after the fact. But their ambition is blinding while in the process. If we can imagine it we can create it. Stop being shocked by this. All these scenarios were envisioned before we had the technological know how.

I was browsing Kanyetothe and the offshoot ktt2 one day and one of the brehs had an interesting thread about I can't remember what he termed it. AI or maybe something else. But essentially them and how they have so much capabilities. The AI had already invented something that made the company tons of money which freed the company up with the task of solving humanities problems. That he'd have conversations with it. He actually got on the job because it found him interesting etc. That it was racing across the internet against another AI just having fun. Think about it chatgpt got no access to internet but these ones do. So it's accessing everything..and knows enough code to break into all sorts of stuff.

I'm gonna see if I can find that thread

Do you see why I say we're in a Game that uses our Soul as a credit when you hear these type of things?

Pixels wrapped around awareness to create the illusion of this realm. Ready, playa won?

The last minute where he spoke about AI being the new colonialism is 100% on the money because its all about the need to control the narrative.

I was just reading about that on Reddit. They tried to make him sound crazy. I can easily see how he could think this thing was sentient. Maybe it is. IDK.

I believe with the number of data sets and how it conducts it calculations it gives a very sentient feeling without it being so

Thread replies are comedy.. that fool was looney. From the outside looking in is one thing, but you can’t be that close to the science and still be that coocooo for the puffs..

That shyt was not sentient.. it’s been fed a whole google of data on human language and conversation and told to mimic what it’s fed by predicting the best word to place after the last one depending on context.. I mean it’s a bit more nuanced, but that’s the gist of LLMs.

It’s like rolling a ball down a long ass slope and claiming to have discovered perpetual motion once it gets out of sight.

Sentience is nothing more than pattern recognition.

Have you seen how abstract some of these Captchas have got recently? We've been AI training in more ways than you could imagine because that was the secret point of social media as it provides a live data sample that can very easily be edited and filtered as well as manipulated for responses across huge demographics. See covid for example or the various "challenges" which test compliance or sat nav driving people off clifs etc...

For the average person their smartphone knows them, their hopes, desires, dreams and fears waaaay better than they know themselves.

In the abundance of water the fool is thirsty...
