With no job, it sounds like he should have took the buyout to me. :yeshrug:

At the end of the day, that is not Canty's problem, especially since the tenant hasn't pay rent in years. Canty do have responsibilities with keeping the property in safe and livable conditions but the tenant needs to pay rent every month or face the consequences of eviction. It's not the landlord fault if the tenant can't afford to live in the area anymore, the renter needs to go to a area when they can pay rent on a monthly basis w/o any issues as long the place is livable.

It’s true… Cacty’s problem is he’s breaking the law and lying to the municipal government

45k aint enough in that area. $2600 is a steal in the upper west side. Only other spot you get $2600 for a 2 bedroom is in the hood in nyc. 80k-100k is reasonable for someone whos lived there for 20 years already. I guarantee every other 2 bedroom apt in that area goes between 3k-5k

And of course his apartment is falling apart, canty is purposely letting it go to shyt in hopes the tenant moves out

Sheeit, losing ya job makes it even harder to get a new place in a landlord's eyes if you don't have a constant flow of income.

I prolly mentioned this before but when I lived in Brooklyn, I had a 2 bedroom and subleased one room, but then the roomate stopped paying and I had to go thru so much shyt to kick dude out. Courts said I had to have someone serve him papers, and I had to give him up to 60 days to find another place that he was able to afford!! Like 2 weeks after I went to court and got the eviction kit papers and let him know, he just randomly moved out without telling me and left everything in his room on. After a week of just seeing and hearing everything on, I just went in his room and saw he had moved out. I think he had a sketchy past and didn't want the law involved so he dipped out without letting me know.

Long story short- NYC is veeeery renter friendly so renters can milk the system if they know the law. The renter in this case knows it and is playing the game. But that's the risk taken when you buy an occupied property with renters.

Ive seen multiple stories of Jews doing this to black neighborhoods, and I doubt other Jews sat around saying how sorry they were for the black people there :yeshrug: old Jew can move into the yeshiva basement

Tbh I don't even feel bad for the tenant because seems like he just tried to take advantage of the COVID rent pause. But Canty should have realized he dealing with a dude that has nothing to lose and paid up
