Swizz u either hate him or luv him . He's definitely hit or miss in some cases .

This.

The four songs in the OP are classics and among his best work. Yes, Swizz has produced some trash, but he has classics too. Swizz isn't in my Top 10 producers or even Top 20. More like Top 25. The run he had in 1998-2001 was ridiculous. There's records he produced that I never liked (Jay Z's "Girl's Best Friend") and there's records where he was repetitive with it.

Waah and Dean are my guys, so no disrespect to them, at all.

But PK said they called him in when they were about to start up on the second X album, and told him they were letting Swizz handle most of it. He said X didn't agree with the move and wanted to keep him and Grease, but they told him he had to work with Swizz. PK said he did over 20 joints with X that could've been on it, and he only got two on it, and Grease got like one.

Grease said he was told that they wanted to promote Swizz and get his name out there more, so they needed him to take a backseat to let Swizz shine. He said the same thing happened with X's last album. The posthumous joint. He did mad songs with X and played them on IG live, sent them to Swizz, but when the album came out, he said Swizz wanted to take all the credit, so he didn't use any of Grease's songs and he put his name on joints he didn't even produce. The business is nasty.
and their joints on the 2nd album were better than the bullshyt Swizz did. I just never understood how he had fans. His beats just weren't that good. But nepotism is a mf

Nepotism can't make people like his music even if they strong armed Swizz onto DMX albums. He had fans for the same reasons everybody has fans, they created something that people like.

yes it can. Through nepotism, they promote HIS beats and we all know that people will like whatever is played in the clubs or on radio. It's called music "programming" for a reason. The same way yall hype up a song that's released today, listen to it for 2 weeks and never play that shyt again the rest of your life. Swizz shyt just wasn't hitting like that. They were forcible singles. Now all of his beats aren't bad. I do like more than a few of his joints, but nah, there is a reason DMX never made another album half as good as his first one.

Real talk, ive been saying it. Nepotism runs most of the world tbh.

Truth.

Swizz said X didn't even want "Ruff Ryders Anthem" beat on the album because he said it sounded too much like "rock and roll" and wasn't hood enough. He said he wanted tracks that sounded more like what Grease and PK was cooking up. But Dee and Waah made him throw it on there because X lost a bet, and the price to pay was having Swizz on the album with a beat. So after he lost, Swizz came with that track and X still didn't want it, lol. But had to throw it on the album.
