No. As a legal gun owner, licensed carrier, and stamp collector (federal licenses), trying to justify this death is kinda harsh. It wasn't an accident, it wasn't protection or over protection, it was negligence plain and simple. Just like that FBI guy that was dancing and his gun fell out of his pants. There's absolutely nothing wrong with carrying, carrying in your house or around your family. There's just certain things you don't do while carrying such as breakdancing and wrestling.

The dad shouldnt forgive himself. It wasn't an accident he was negligent. People need to stop defining negligence as accident. Leaving your infant child in a tub where they die isn't an accident. Wrestling with your kid while you have a loaded firearm on you and him dying isn't an accident. Leaving your child in a garage, or a hot car where they die isn't a mistake. There's no "Oops, I'm sorry.”

Hurts to read, especially considering this one mistake will likely change the entire trajectory of this man's family's life.

You guys really appreciate how random life is...like, if you have a family, you can spend so much time making plans for them and their future...and then something crazy as hell happens and, suddenly, all your plans mean nothing?

The baby is dead.

The daddy will likely never forgive himself.

The mama/wife, no matter what she says outwardly, will likely be blaming him for a long time.

The daughters are now without a brother and will now have to live with parents who are likely emotionally and mentally compromised from all of this and, they too, will be affected.

Other folks in the family are going to be feeling a certain type of way as well.

I'm not sure what kind of emotional support one could even offer the father in a case like this.

All because of one mistake.

Seeing this sort of thing just reminds me of the fragility of life and how everything one does as a parent - big or small - affects the babies in some way or another.

The best post in this thread. Can’t imagine what that family is even feeling. There marriage is about to get ugly, and I’m certain he will hate himself forever. My sympathies for this family.
