I feel like
TRINA IS A LEGEND. her influence is still heavy in the chicken head streets
Young Zee wrote for Digga.
You can hear it if you listen closely, it's the exact same flow. But confirmation didn't come until Lord Have Mercy put her on blast on that DVD he dropped for his mixtape after he left Flipmode.
Yea that's what I was sayin. I've seen Rah Digga kill freestyles n all that. Maybe her man helped her a little bit but I'm not sure about nikkas tryna write her off like she ain't write shyt.
fukk her
Germany? What type of foolishness is that?
Thas what I'm saying maybe those dudes added a hook and only got credit for a line or a bridge whatever.
I'm talking about her raps not her r&b shyt. Are those bars undeniably not hers.
If they are hers then lauryn is a certified mc.
I'd be less inclined to believe it if she dropped another album in a timely fashion. That other joint came out in what...08 and was lukewarm as hell?Yea that's what I was sayin. I've seen Rah Digga kill freestyles n all that. Maybe her man helped her a little bit but I'm not sure about nikkas tryna write her off like she ain't write shyt.
Breh, I hope Lord was just hating because I hold that album as the female rap standard.See I don't believe that because there are between 5-10 people in the Outsiderz family who use the SAME rhyme patterns. You can even include D12, because they spawned off of that flow too. When you really think about that multi-syllabic flow, it's a cheat code to make a rap more melodic & engaging. Plus it makes a person sound lyrical, even if they aren't REALLY saying anything. Once you have that pattern down, you can say anything and sound good.
Pace Won might be the only one who uses different patterns. Or maybe he's rapping much slower, but he sounds different.
In any case, it's the patterns that make them sound good, I don't think any of them are GREAT writers unless you include Eminem. So once you get the pattern down, the easiest way to rank the people using that style is by voice.
Rah Digga and Pace arguably have the best voices in the crew.
Zee is the most clever, but his voice is off putting to many. Plus his rhymes are so full of childish boasts, I don't know if he could take all the humor out of his rhymes if he tried. Rah Digga wasn't funny like that.
She made her own lane and was probably more self made than lil kim...Trina took a piece of Lil Kim's presentation and ran with it. She's a Southern version of "Get Money"/"Big Momma Thing" Lil' Kim. So if you want to know why she might not get acknowledged for her influence, that's the reason. They honored the person that directly influenced her. She was very successful though.
Lauryn had a lot of co-producers, we know that now. But why do people think Lauryn had writers? Her mother was an English teacher, and Lauryn herself was admitted to Columbia, which is an Ivy League school. Many of Lauryn's verses have that "Poetry loving, middle class, bookstore revolutionary" vibe. I know that sounds like a slight, but those rhymes are still dope. Lauryn & Mos Def were the apex of that style, imo.In regard to Lauryn's writing and production (or lack thereof), it seems nobody wrote rhymes for her. Those were her words according to this article, which even includes statements from the producers who sued her:
Inside 'The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill'
Missy wrote classic song after classic song & at least has more than 1 album
Latifah is pure icon & has hip hop anthems & classic songs for days on deck & became a great actor
Lil kim is one the greatest female emcees ever & foxy & nicki are her children
Salt & pepa are pure icons that inspired foxy & lauren to even want to pick up a mic
Lauran kinda overrated to me her 1 album wasnt a hip hop album & non of you nikkas was listening to the fugees
Mia x >>>>>> lauren hill as a rapper imo![]()
She made her own lane and was probably more self made than lil kim...
Kim was basically rapping about nasty shyt and drug shyt. Trina was real hood rat shyt.
Gotta be the personal thing
Foxy Brown was the first female MC to go #1 with a straight rap album. Lauryn was the first but her album was r&b heavy.
Her bona fides in the game can't be questioned on an industry level.
Actually, DA BRAT was the 1st solo female emcee to go platinum.
