is 15 pure really that good though? its ok no doubt
The physical copies is the more impressive number and I'm pretty sure that's the main one @Piff Perkins was referencing.

This is the best first sales week in Freddie or Alc's career, I'm pretty sure, and they both have even commented on social media that they're blown away at the amount of copies they've sold on this.

Especially considering this thing only had 1 week head's up in terms of promotion. They just put out that little short film and a link to merch and physical copies, and dropped the album a few days later.

I’m not saying he does but I prefer his music…Seems genuine
I understand you saying you prefer his music. But calling Larry a better songwriter and saying that you like his flow more than Gibbs is a wild ass thing to say lol

Larry makes music I enjoy but he literally has no word play, metaphors, interesting rhyme schemes, or even multiple flows at all. All his rhyme schemes are 1 or 2 syllables. No internal rhyme schemes.

He rapped a written verse from his phone over a beat he'd already used on Sway's show and literally couldn't get through the verse. Most of his verses are like diary entries.

I played the cliff in the city
Shoppin', takin' pictures, left with a fifty
Scannin' every call, every trap was a five star
Order room service, check trap, I'll be back tomorrow
Switchin' up the pictures on that we doin' no calls
Green dot only, we ain't fukkin' with them credit cards
Knocked some fresh game, added that to my catalog
Choose up, baby girl, me and you can go far

Like come on.... this the most basic ass rap I've ever heard. I'm not a hater either. I own Larry merch and I've seen him live. But he can't be compared to real writers on any kind of bars. The total package is enjoyable. But when he gets with real rhymers? It's no contest.

Both. I don't get harping solely on pure sales in 2025, that argument died long ago. 38k is a big number for Gibbs/Alch. And yes 15k physical sales is certainly proof that there's value in people knowing you have high quality vinyl and ship it on time.

I enjoy the pocket & groove of Larry’s music more. It’s simple and meant to get the point across ala Too Short, Don Kennedy & Wiz Khalifa (granted Wiz shows more pace & dexterity)

I’m not impressed with Freddie Gibbs’ music. No metaphors or punchlines worth memorizing, his voice, his hooks, his feel for the shyt he raps about or his schemes

There’s been plenty of compelling weasels so him being a weasel isn’t a big deal to me. It’s just he’s a weasel that isn’t a great listen for me

Take Pusha for example. He’s a one trick pony in the sense of he’s approaching every beat the same way as he has 20 years ago. He doesn’t switch up his tone or anything…but I’m pretty sure he’ll say something impressive at some point. Freddie doesn’t even do that much

Respectfully

"Don't fukk with these hoes like Andre 3000 aint fukk wit Caroline" :ohhh:

I feel strongly like Alc's production for Gibbs is more custom fitted like a nice suit, whereas Madlib is like the guy that knows how to find all the best shyt at the thrift store that looks like it shouldn't go together, but it does. Madlib is jus throwing crazy clothes at Gibbs. I feel like Alc goes to where Freddie is, whereas Madlib makes Freddie come over to him. And I think Madlib's dynamic in this case is more chaotic and kind of wild sounds that are all over the place, and I just think that fits Freddie's energy a little better. So, I do prefer the MadGibbs dynamic over the Alfredo dynamic.

Not by a lot. But by a little. For that reason, I do have Pinata and Bandana above the two Alfredo albums. But if someone else disagreed I wouldn't argue too much. As to which Alfredo is better? Tough call. On first listen I said 2, easy. Right now? I think 1 has the higher highs, but 2 is more consistent. I like trapping Gibbs more than hard on hoes Gibbs. For that reason I prefer the raps on Part 1 more, but I prefer more of the beats on Part 2. I also would love if Part 2 were maybe 5 mins shorter, but I also don't know what I'd cut.

How are people saying this better than the Clipse drop?

Went back and listened again. Damn near fell asleep to Gibbs monotone one flow style.

Finally listened to this album. It's a good 4 mics. I read all the comments in here before listening and the way y'all were hyping up Ensalada you had me thinking it was "Poet Laureate part 2" levels.
