Yeah this has definitely become my favorite album of the year so far, it was still competing with Banks but listened to both these days and this takes it so far.

Still got some of my GOATS dropping though (Ghost, Mobb, Esco) so let's see.

He already there in my opinion. I know there will be people who say he's doesn't have a bonifide classic, but the albums he's done with Boldy and Gibbs solidified it for me.

He's a bit like Jay-Z to me, where he's nowhere near my GOAT but I wouldn't blink twice at anybody goating him at this point. His discography is too solid and undeniable, even though not all of it hits for me (like with Hov) but I recognize the skill and artistry behind the work.

I can respect that, I feel the same way about Jay-Z...his status is undeniable but he's not on my GOAT list personally.

I love the Banks too I just really wish he had some better production. I'm not even saying Alc or someone like that, but just some variety in sounds. I even liked the Craven beat on this new one. I feel like Banks has so many beats on that similar sound. It's almost like the sound that AraabMuzik helped kick off. Jerm. Doe Pesci. They did that sound a lot too.

ALC is in my top 5 and will always probably be there. It's just too hard for me to knock RZA, Hav, Preem, and Dre out of the top spots for stuff like Linx, Swords, Infamous, Hell, Chronic, 2001, Doggystyle, Moment of Truth, etc. A lot of those albums are too tied up in nostalgia for me to even be objective at all.

I think Alc has done enough modern classics like @T.H.E. Goat said to where I wouldn't be mad if someone had him at #1.

Honestly, Alc is kinda like Lebron James of the GOAT producer debate. An argument for Alc is largely on longevity and stats, with a few high level wins in there too. But Michael Jordan had the higher level wins in a shorter time span and every single thing he did was incredible. In this case MJ would be RZA/Dre/etc. Like Lebron, Alc has a ton of Finals appearances, but not as many rings. ALC don’t really have a Cuban Linx or a Chronic or a Moment of Truth, but he has a TON of stuff that’s like very, very good, for a whole lot more years than RZA, Dre, etc.

The list of rap producers still making heat decades later is slim. Q-Tip, Alc, Madlib...those are the first that come to mind. Pete Rock as a late entry because 5 years ago I would have said his new shyt is weak, but the Common album (plus some Griselda tracks) show he's revived lol. Also the thing that separates Alc is the way he weaves in and out of the mainstream and underground. Drake/Cole/Kendrick tracks within the last couple years, works with most of the underground guys...it's amazing.

Eminem a fool for not just locking in for a full album from him. I'm not an Em fan but if anyone can fix him it's Alc.

Breh I never really got into Freddie so I went back to check his catalog...and I still dislike most of it.

This album is special

It's crazy. I'm only really seeing 2 themes on the complaints, and one of them is that it's literally too cohesive for some people. It's so consistent that some people think it runs together, but I actually think the beats sound very different from each other in terms of the drums, the sample choices, etc. But most of the beats have the same tempo, so I get why some people think that. The other complaint is just that Freddie's subject matter isn't deep.

But the rapping and the beats are both great on their own and mix great together. That pretty much can't be argued. It's one of the best projects either dude has done so far.

My top 4 this year is Alfredo 2, Clipse, Evidence, and 2Chainz/Larry June.
